Looking at the box score, there isn't much you guys could have done better. You could nitpick a few things but at the end of the day, the more talented team won.

Absolutely. Maybe get Payne the ball more (but they played good defense) or have Quick make more threes (but these kind of days happen).

Now it's time to see who will win the title this year as the brothers focus on their recruiting.

2022 March Madness: Round of 32 Update

Upset Watch
  • #10 Gonzaga 93 - #2 Illinois 88 – The Zags are a big name, but they did not have a great regular season. However, they’ve bucked that trend with 2 straight upsets in the tourney. Illinois’ SG Kurt Gibbs had 33 points, but it wasn’t enough as a team effort from the Bulldogs won the day.
  • #8 UCLA 83 - #1 Tennessee 71 – Possibly top NBA pick Arnold McNurlin loses to the Bruins and only scores 10 points. The mercurial, but supremely talented, Bruins now make the Sweet 16 and were led almost entirely by C Stewart Mobley (35 points, 11 rebounds) and PG Malcom Nahra (21 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists). Two starters didn’t even score a single point, but they didn’t need it as they comfortably beat the Volunteers.
  • #7 Pittsburgh 79 - #2 Kansas 73 – A pitiful final game from Adrian Stewart who scores 7 points, grabs 3 rebounds, and fouls out after only playing 14 minutes. Without him, Kansas couldn’t catch back up and struggled without their star. Both top NBA prospects bow out in the same day.
  • #6 Michigan State 82 - #3 Georgetown 57 – MSU got a blowout victory over the Hoyas largely thanks to the difference in three point shooting (9-17 vs 1-11) and free throw shooting (21-27 vs 18-31).
  • #5 Syracuse 74 - #4 USC 60 – After struggling to get by Stetson, USC fell to the Orange. The Trojans went 0-10 from three and were outrebounded 42-28 in the loss.
  • #5 Texas 88 - #4 Texas A&M – A small upset, but one nonetheless as the Longhorns stayed alive by beating in-state rivals on the back of SG Philip Leonard and PF Roy Grady.

Key Performances
  • In Ohio State’s 86-71 victory over Kansas State, they jumped out to a big first half lead thanks to their bench: SF Rene Buckman, SF Drake Israel, and SG Peter Burton combined for 40 points off the bench.
  • The game was tied at 43-43 between 1 Duke and 8 California at halftime. Then Duke blew things open en route to a 24 point victory in the 2nd half, thanks to several players (6 in double digits), but especially junior SF Jaan O’Donnell who scored 25 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and 5 dealt assists.
  • We’re using this space to reiterate the monster game Stewart Mobley had in beating the Volunteers: 35 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 blocks, and was 10-13 from the charity stripe.
  • Maryland destroyed Arkansas 108-62, and saw PG Brant Toole score 22 and add 12 assists, while C Jesus Lewis scored 29 points.
  • Kurt Gibbs shot 11-16 to end with 33 points for the Illini.

NIT Update
  • The Tar Heels disappointing season comes to an end as they lose to Rhode Island, 88-83.
  • Washington’s entire starting frontcourt and first forward off the bench combined for 67 points as they dominated Baylor 89-58.
  • J.R. Douby showed up big again, scoring 30 points as Boston beat Old Dominion 79-63.
  • Two days later, Boston beat Louisiana Lafayette by 25 points as Douby added another 34 points. The Terriers are in the semifinals of the NIT. They face off against Washington, as the Huskies beat Purdue 72-70.
  • On the other side, Rhode Island squeaked by Arizona State and will face Army, who beat Oklahoma State by 2 points after overtime.

Make sure to watch this week’s College Hoops Tonight, as both brothers were showcased starting at 1:30.

Tough to lose to a less talented team than your round 1 opponent, but great season for both brothers nonetheless. If Oggy can repeat this year's success next season he might have a good shot at a mid-major job. Would be a less controversial move than the last one

Question about the game itself - how do you run your offense and get assists for either coach? I feel like I rely too much on plays, throwing it into the post, and pick and rolls, and I want to play less forward-driven. I have drive and kicks in mind, but it can be hard to do with the spacing in this game being tight.

Oggy can't be too controversial this offseason, I am pretty sure that the game makes you wait 2-3 seasons after the second job in a closed dynasty to change again. But yes, if he does this again, I could totally see Oggy coaching in the Missouri Valley, Mountain West, Atlantic Ten, or something similar.

Oggy is going to have triple towers next year and a brand new backcourt. Much will be expected of his team, we'll see what he can do.

I must admit that I am far more free flowing and streetball in CHoops 2K8 than I am in NBA 2K. My entire offense generally consists of the following:
  1. Fast breaks, fast breaks, and fast breaks.
  2. Drive and kicks from the wings or PGs.
  3. Drive and finish - but only from players like Mo Payne that have high dribbling and are athletic.
  4. Post moves - mainly hookshots and up-and-unders, though I do fadeaways with Pocius.
  5. Post kickouts to the wing or corner for a three pointer.
  6. Sometimes I do a pick and roll.
I've had less luck with plays in this game than others, and the above works for me most times. Ball movement and finding mismatches.

Thanks for asking and thanks even more for reading

2022 March Madness: Round of 16 Update

Upset Watch
  • #3 Ohio State 83 - #2 Louisville 74 – It’s a modest upset, but the Buckeyes overpowered the Cardinals in the 2nd half to win.

Key Performances
  • It was absolute destruction in the Carrier Dome as Florida shellacked Southern Miss 105-52. SG Britton Wainright scored 30 on 10-15 shooting to lead the Gators.
  • OSU’s 7 footer Lamar Olson manhandled Louisville to the tune of 30 points and 8 rebounds.
  • It’s hard to find a better pair of starting wings in college basketball than Seth Oneil and Jaan O’Donnell, as the Blue Devil tandem combined for 44 points in their easy win over Syracuse.
  • UCLA’s run came to an end as Wisconsin scored 60 first half points. The Badgers had 3 players score 19+ points (PG Vedran Visockis, SG Jonas Shavies, SG Drake Ozier) and this meant that Stewart Mobley’s 32 points were just a footnote in a blowout.
  • Senior PF Orien Borges dropped 29 points in Mississippi State’s easy win over Memphis.

Man not the best year for non-power conference schools only St. Francis, Gonzaga and Southern Miss made it to the round of 32 and they’re all out now.

Yeah, it's been very chalk so far, with Tennessee's loss being the biggest shocker so far, as they were one of the two best teams in the nation all year.

2022 March Madness: Elite 8 Update

Upset Watch
There were no upsets, as we end up with three 1 seeds and a 2 seed in the Final Four.

Key Performances
  • The Gators continue to waterboard their opponents, led once again by SG Britton Wainright and his 28 points as they easily handled the Buckeyes.
  • The Spartans run fell short in the elite 8, as Duke, led by SG Seth Oneil, won 79-62 thanks to a big second half.
  • It was a close one in Austin, but Mississippi State and SG DeAntoine Minnifield overcame a 6 point deficit to make the Final Four.
  • Maryland was scared for a bit, but ended up with a 7 point victory to keep their championship hopes alive. PG Brant Toole was 0-8 from the field but 12-12 from the FT line in a statistical anomaly.
