In the early days, with Bates injured on Jan. 16 in a losing game against the Toronto Raptors, it seemed to everyone in the organization that Orlando was going to lose a good playoff position. Literally no one expected Kennedy Chandler to take responsibility for the entire team. One month later (Feb 18) the Magic are on the 3rd position in the East with one win less than the New York Knicks. In such a situation, Bates has time to recover, no one will try to turn him on to rotation beforehand

In the last 3 games, the Magic always had one more player than their opponents with double digits the number of points. Four players from the starting lineup ended always above 12 points. Only once, when Onyeka Okongwu scored 10 points (vs. Knicks) he focus on rebounds and blocks. Ausar Thompson spending more time on court after Bates' injury. He scores 15.3 points (2 points more than before Bates absent) in 24.4 minutes.

Bates Is Back, One Win In Six Games

Emoni Bates returned on March 3 to the Bulls game. It was the another loss. The Orlando Magic had as many as 7 defeats in the last 9 games. Could it be the fault of Bates who returned to the starting five (6 games) in this campain (SimCast). When he played, the Magic only once win. Magic won over the Dallas Mavericks when Bates got 6 fouls and only had 7 points in 22 minutes. Kennedy Chandler ended with 30 points and Jalen Suggs finished with 23 points and 10 assists.
The Orlando Magic will prepare to the game with the best team on the West side, Utah Jazz (47-21). Emoni Bates will join to Ausar Thompson on the bench. The starting five will look like this:
