So the Giants fell to the Cowboys 24-17 in the season opener and Giant's fans think the season is over. Please.

In 2008 the Giants came off a Super Bowl win and went 11-1 on their way to losing 4 out of the final 5 games, eliminated in their first playoff game that season.

There are still 13 current Giants players who played for the team in 2008. They remember what happened. Maybe that's why none of them played a great game Wednesday night? Was Osi Umenyiora or Justin Tuck even at the game?

These Giants don't function well in prosperity. They need to be backed up against the wall before they play their best ball. It's been that way for quite a while.

So perhaps it's a good thing for the Giants to lose in the opening game.

Meanwhile, kudos to the Cowboys and Kevin Ogletree. <!--more-->They made the biggest play of the game at two minutes left, on the third down slant pass to seal the victory. Had they not executed the play perfectly, it's possible the Giants could have tied the game.

So credit to Tony Romo and his Cowboys. They look improved over last season, and could be contenders this season. The NFC East is certainly going to be the NFC East of old with all four teams mounting interesting challenges to each other.

The "dynasty" Eagles have all their pieces in place, and the Redskins have RG3, possibly this year's Cam Newton.

Should be an exciting season for all four teams. Ya gotta love the NFC East.
