He might do that but that fight wouldn't happen until early 2019 if GGG-Canelo II takes place in May. If there is a close decision in the rematch you're looking at Canelo-GGG III.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic

I'm not looking for the for results of Briedis-Perez because I'll be watching it later today.

Many of you might associate then heavyweight Perez with the ten round decision beating of Russian boxer Magomed Abdusalamov who suffered severe brain damage during the fight. New York State Athletic Commission doctors examined and cleared the fighter but minutes later in an emergency room, a blood clot was found. A state inspector report trashed the commission for its absence of post-fight emergency procedures leading to a record settlement of $22 million for Abdusalamov and his family. This is older news (September 8th) but it's the first I'm hearing about it.

Some of us in this forum watched the fight live.

EDIT: Briedis landed solid right uppercuts throughout the fight. Although those blows and others help him to a relatively easy victory Perez was never hurt and the fight just wasn't that good. Too much holding and leading with the head.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic

How many Wilder fights are going to be scuttled due to PED use by his prospective opponents? Isn't this like the 2nd or 3rd time that's happened to him?

Anyway, there's only 1 heavyweight fight that really matters at this point. Until that happens, everything else is just prelude and check-cashing.

The recent Parker-Fury bout speaks volumes about the lack of depth in the heavyweight division.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic

Wilder vs. Stiverne is better than nothing but the later has had one fight since Deontay beat him and that one happened two years ago.

Do y"all think Tyson Fury will box again? Shannon Briggs is trying to bait him into a fight. Their over the top personalities will sell the fight.

Any desire by Fury to fight will test the integrity of the British commission. The dude is an admitted cocaine addict, terribly out of shape and mentally unstable. But he's also big box office business in the UK, so promoters will apply a ton of pressure to the commission to license Fury for any upcoming fight.
