Re: GGG - Alvarez II

Alvarez looks much stronger thru 6 rounds.
Probably 3-3 so far.

I think it’s 6-3 Golovkin. But he looks gassed. Alvarez looks much stronger

Golovkin with a HUGE 10th round. Stunned Alvarez. He looks hurt.

Wow. GGG got hosed. He won at least 7 rounds if not 8 or even 9.

Re: GGG - Alvarez II

I will say this. Alvarez looked strong and dictated the fight. He controlled the middle of the ring throughout. He also landed way more body shots.
Golovkin looked tired for most of the fight and was on the outside.
However, I felt Golovkin put together more rounds.
I had 5 guys come over to watch who don’t normally watch boxing. All 5 felt GGG won the fight.
It was very close and if anything THIS fight was probably more apropos to finish in a draw. Instead Alvarez walks away undefeated in two fights.
I’ll also repeat what I’ve said for a while now, this fight should have taken place 3 years ago. Golovkin looked old and I truly believe he stops Alvarez if they fight in 2015.
But DLH is no dummy and kept him away just for that reason.
Congrats to Alvarez. He didn’t run this time and pressed forward the whole time.
However, I still believe his best isn’t as good as GGG’s.
It’ll be interesting what he does from here on out.
I’m guessing he takes a gimme fight in May. Maybe two.
Lemieux for sure.
But I bet DLH steers him clear of any of the top contenders for at least a year.
Time to milk this cow.

Re: GGG - Alvarez II

I thought the fight was too close to call. Alvarez seemed to frustrate GGG early but how many of those early rounds did he win? GGG landed some bombs in the later rounds but could only split the last four rounds on two of the judge's scorecards. The judge that called it a draw gave the last four rounds to GGG.

Re: GGG - Alvarez II

All three judges scored the first six rounds exactly the same (G-C-C-G-C-C) which gave Canelo a 4-2 lead.

EDIT: GGG needed a knockout or knockdown in the 12th to win the fight. All three judges had him down 105-104 going into the final round. If two of the three judges gave him the last round it would have been a majority draw.

By the way this was a great and brutal fight. It had everything but a knockdown or KO.
