Player Resignings

The Baltimore Ravens have announced that they have agreed upon new contracts for these players:

K Demetri Boyd- 3 years, $4.7M, $500K Bonus
P Sam Koch- 2 years, $1.04M

WR Jay Hamilton has walked out of negotiations after demanding a contract along the lines of $19M over 6 years with a $5M bonus.

RE Elvis Dumervil has walked out of negotiations after demanding a contract along the lines of $25M over 6 years with a $8M bonus.

LE Michael Peters has has walked out of negotiations after demanding a contract along the lines of $25M over 6 years with a $8M bonus. He will not be resigned.

The Ravens have ended negotiations with HB Dedric Atkinson after he demanded $3M a year to be the 3rd stringer.

SS Marlon McCree has walked out of negotiations after demanding a contract along the lines of $2M over 2 years.

Coach White announced the signing of WR Josh Cribbs and LG Senario Darcy. FS Josh Barrett has been released to make room. Cribbs is expected to take over the starting kick and punt returning jobs.

Week 6 Preview: At Bears

The 4-0 Ravens travel to Soldier Field to take on the 2-2 Bears in Week 6. The Bears are known for their defense, but it isn't much of a strength. The top 3 Bears are C Olin Kreutz (93), MLB Brian Urlacher (93), and LT Ryan Clady (92). The QB is Chad Pennington who is as unthreatening as ever. The team wasted the 3rd overall pick on Illinois HB Joey Keller who only has 3 carries for 16 yards this season. Otherwise Travis Henry will be toting the rock. Devin Hester is the only offensive weapon. If anyone on the Bears is going to give me fits, it will be the corners. Nathan Vasher and Charles Tillman team up to create one of the best cornerback tandems in the league. I could see myself tripping up against this team if Josh Johnson can't get it going through the air.

Week 6: At Bears

Josh Johnson may have had his worst passing game of the season, and Nnamdi Asomugha may have made his first big mistake of the season, but the Ravens had the biggest win of their season as they won, 55-14. Johnson threw 3 interceptions, but ran in two touchdowns and had his highest rushing total of the season with 70 yards. Nnamdi Asomugha got burned on a streak by Devin Hester but otherwise was solid as he limited Hester to 2 catches. Jamarion Bellows added 116 yards to help the effort.

Looking dominate, even with Johnson throwing 3 picks in the last game.

Week 7 Preview: At Browns

I travel to Cleveland for my 3rd consecutive away game. The Browns are a surprising 4-2 thanks to the play of Derek Anderson, who was 14 touchdowns. Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow are the only offensive threats, but they are probably the best receivers I've faced all season. The 3 best players are LT Joe Thomas (95), WR Braylon Edwards (90) and TE Kellen Winslow (89). If I can injure Winslow, their passing attack should take a big hit. The secondary is young and inexperienced. I shouldn't have a problem with this defense. The Browns will need to score often, on a defense that has allowed 37 points all season, to stay in this one.

Re: Taking Flight - A Baltimore Ravens Dynasty

Week 8 review

AFC Players of the Week

QB Josh Johnson, Ravens- 27-40, 373 yards, 2 touchdowns, 16 carries, 218 yards, 4 touchdowns

CB Ike Taylor, Steelers- 7 tackles, 1 FF (That's it?)

NFC Players of the Week

QB Kurt Warner, Falcons- 27-42, 341 yards, 5 touchdowns

CB Charles Woodson, Packers- 3 tackles, 1 FF, 1 FR, 2 picks

Injuries

Derrick Mason was lost for the season after getting blown up by Browns safety Sean Jones. Mason suffers from mild head trauma and was placed on the IR. ROLB Sean Watts was signed to take his place on the roster.

Contracts

Dumervil walked out again. Looks like he wont be back.

Ignored Michael Peters.

Ignored Tony Richardson.

Ignored Derrick Mason.

Jay Hamilton walked out.

Ignored Dedric Atkinson.

Marlon McCree walked out.

MLB Eric Barton resigns for $1.24M over 2 years.

RG Scott Kooistra resigns for $800K over 2 years.

RT Patrick McCoy resigns for $760K over 2 years.

Week 8 Preview: At Bengals

This should be a toughie. The Bengals are a very capable 4 and 3 team. They are led, as always, by QB Carson Palmer and WR Chad Ocho Cinco. The offense is dynamic, as always, but has a fairly weak O-line. The defense is led by FS Eugene Wilson and ROLB Karlos Dansby. Otherwise, the defense is fairly pedestrian. The 3 best players on the Bengals are WR Chad Ocho Cinco (95), FS Eugene Wilson (90), and WR TJ Housmandzadeh (89). The Ravens should win this one if they can hold the receivers in check.
