The Pac 10 Thread

Here is my pac 10 thread since i'm a Pac 10 guy. This season the Pac 10 should be a really good conference. Maybe better than the ACC. 6 Teams ranked in the preseason polls and Washington is not far behind. Here are my predictions for the upcoming year.

Player Of The Year: Darren Collison, UCLA
Newcomer Of The Year: O.J. Mayo, USC
Most Improved Player: Quincy Pondexter, Washington
Most Overrated Player: Malik Hairston, Oregon
Most Underrated Player: Tajuan Porter, Oregon
Best Defender: Kyle Weaver, Washington State
Sleeper Team: Washington
Overrated Team: Oregon

Re: The Pac 10 Thread

Pretty good picks. I actually like Hairston. He's a nice player offensively...injuries really slowed him down last season. IMO, the Lopez twins are overrated. Robin probably won't see the floor since the moron can't get his butt to class.

My surprise team is Cal this year. Getting Hardin back is huge. The trio of Hardin, Anderson, and Randle is probably as good as any in the conference.

I think Pondexter and Aron Baynes are the two guys who are going to break out this season. Pondexter has the ability to put up 18 a night...I'm just not sure if UW can consistently execute their half court offense, because they're not going to run on many teams in the Pac-10 like they want to. Baynes was out of shape after a foot injury last summer. He's back down to his playing weight and completely dominated the World University tournament.

Re: The Pac 10 Thread

I agree with most of that, except Porter is nowhere near underrated. After drilling threes everywhere people know him name and he will get shut down hardcore this year. That being said, here are my picks.

Player Of The Year: Darren Collison, UCLA
Newcomer Of The Year: Kevin Love, UCLA
Most Improved Player: Quincy Pondexter, Washington
Most Overrated Player: Josh Shipp, UCLA
Most Underrated Player: Rochestee, Washington State
Best Defender: Kyle Weaver, Washington State
Sleeper Team: Stanford, if Lopez ever gets his act together
Overrated Team: USC

Re: The Pac 10 Thread

I think if Stanford gets the Lopez thing figured out and how long they are gone.....I really think the Pac 10 gets 7 and maybe even 8 teams in the NCAA Tournament if Cal does somethings. Pac 10 IMO is going to be the deepest conference in the country.

Re: The Pac 10 Thread

Player Of The Year: Kyle Weaver, WSU
Newcomer Of The Year: James Harden, Arizona State
Most Improved Player: Jawan McClellan, Arizona
Most Overrated Player: O.J. Mayo, USC (just because I'm tired of hearing of him already)
Most Underrated Player: Lawrence Hill, Stanford
Best Defender: Kyle Weaver, Washington State
Sleeper Team: UW
Overrated Team: USC (even though I think Gibson is going to dominate)

Re: The Pac 10 Thread

Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking USC is overrated. But yea, this conference is deep, and prolly would get 7 or 8 teams in. Only problem is the committee would never let that many teams from one conference in.

Well so much for that. Randle is out at least 6 weeks. Cal can't catch any breaks lately when it comes to team health.

Saw Appleby is out for 6 weeks. This probably makes UW stronger later in the season getting the youngins experience early on. I've never been enamored by Applebino's play.

Re: The Pac 10 Thread

Pac-10 play tips off tonight.

Portland State at No. 2 UCLA, 7:30 p.m.
Harvard at No. 23 Stanford, 7 p.m.
Eastern Washington at No. 10 Washington State, 6:30 p.m.

Along with the Ducks, these are probably the cream of the crop in the conference (I like Stanford even without Brook Lopez).

Thankfully, I'm not in the Seattle market so I can actually watch the Cougs on FSN Northwest instead of the Oklahoma City Sonics.
