In a 12-team playoff, the field would largely be set at this point and everybody would be playing for seeding.
Hmmmm would the first seed get any benefits? Just asking

Top four seeds get a first-round bye next year.

Y’all about to see how ugly it’s going to get, if you haven’t watched the NBA pre-play-in years.

I could not agree more. A 12 team playoff is going to ruin the regular season. One of the great aspects of college football for years was that every regular season game meant so much. Some years a single loss would eliminate a team from national championship contention. That's all gonna change with 12 teams. For instance, Ohio State-Michigan would both be in a 12 team playoff this year win, lose or draw, so they would likely rest players for the tournament. Why would they not? And why would any team want to play in a conference championship game? Just an extra game to tire players and risk more injuries.

There would be a lot to play for, especially with a first-round bye at stake.

I've always hated the first week bye. If every took a break I'd be cool with it. But I've always felt the team that's sitting around is at a disadvantage.
