Re: College Football Off Topic

Not sure if anyone here saw it, but Saban was whining about teams buy and paying for players.... which... is just rich.

I agree there needs to be regulations on NIL. But, don't want to hear the whining about it. If the NCAA didn't just throw their hands up and try to rely on congress solving the issue, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Definitely have to tune into October 8th.

So if anyone in college has anything low-level sleazy to get off their chest, today would be the day to do it because it won't get any oxygen.

After Saban's comments last night, Jimbo just went scorched earth on Saban and I'm all for it. You hardly ever hear one coach talk about another coach like this...

Saban is a great coach, one of the best ever. His statements yesterday were idiotic, really. Like anyone believes Bama built their dynasty without doing illegal recruiting?

Every school has been cheating forever, to different degrees. Anyone who thinks otherwise is simply naive.

Yeah, I get what he's trying to do. But that was dumb. I guess he's willing to lay on the sword if it gets more restrictions on NIL contracts that get recruits to commit.

Re: College Football Off Topic

I have seen exactly (1) person point out the very important fact that until January Alabama had a State law preventing booster involvement with NIL whereas Texas did not. Alabama and Auburn would have been itching to snitch on each other if they knew the other was breaking State laws.

Trying to take the morale high ground and brag about paying players the right way doesn't make any sense here but then again I'm old enough to remember Nick Saban complaining about player safety when teams were finding success against him with the read option and no huddle offense. It's not the first time he's sided against something or even lobbied for a rule change because something gave another team an opportunity to compete or even the odds. I think in this case he just messed up and just said the quiet part out loud because we were all thinking it about A&M.

Don't get me wrong, Jimbo Fisher is full of **** and NIL definitely paved the way for their #1 recruiting class but I'm contractually obligated to take the side of anyone publicly slandering Nick Saban or Alabama.
