See this is where I disagree. As a whole conference, the SEC is as solid as you can get top to bottom. You know why the bottom 3-4 teams look so bad??? Because they're playing the top 9-10 teams every week. I challenge anyone to take the final standings of any conference & look at the match-ups between the two. Who would win #1 vs. #1, #2 vs. #2, #3 vs. #3....#14 vs. #14. I think you would struggle to find any conference that could win more than 2-3 match-ups. You can't ask is the #12 team in the SEC better than the #4 team in the ACC, you have to ask is the #12 team in the SEC better than the #12 team in the ACC, Big Ten, etc.

Judging by this post, I don't think you know me or what a real troll is. I wasn't trying to draw a negative reaction out of you, just trying to make the point that a lot of the insightful regulars in this forum are burnt out on this particular discussion.

Please, by all means carry on.

I disagree. Kentucky and Tennessee are downright horrible. A different conference wouldn't mean those two would do any better.

The problem with that is that SEC teams have to be willing to play you and most are not. UF hasn't left Florida since 1990.
Is it the top conference, sure, but not that big of a league. The top teams are better, but the mid/bottom teams are just like all the other power conferences. They just get inflated rankings because they play the top teams.

The top teams also get inflated rankings because they played each other.

My sec rankings are this:
Bama

Georgia

Florida

LSU
Texas AM

South Carolina
Vandy

Miss St
Arkansas
Auburn

Ole Miss

Tennessee

Mizzou

UK.

My spaces are intentional, to show the difference between the top 5ish and everyone else.

Really? That big of a discrepancy between Aggy and South Carolina? I get that you're a Clemson man, but let's be realistic.

Re: Is the SEC really that dominant or overrated???

This all depends on how you judge what "best conference" really means.

Does it mean the conference which produces the national champion? If that's the case, then it's clearly the SEC, as they have produced the last 7 national champions.

Does it mean the best conference vs conference record? In which case, the SEC is still the best conference.

Does it mean the best conference top to bottom, where the bottom team of one conference is better than the bottom team of another conference, all the way up to the top teams from each conference? If that's the case, then it isn't clear that the SEC is the best conference.
