Re: 2014-2015 Coaching Carousel Thread

There will be no offer to top. The 49ers "parted ways" with him and let him go for nothing because he's linked with Michigan. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't pretend to know the specifics, but a binding agreement was reached and signed between all parties; the 49ers release him from his contract without owing him anything, in exchange for him being quiet in public about his relationship with the SF front office, he owes them nothing for leaving, and...he is not coaching in the NFL. Hence, he is coaching at the only college job he is interested in.

There are no calls to take, there are no offers to be made or topped, the race was already won before any other NFL team had a chance to enter it. Later today JBC will get on a private jet with his wife and their children, and set course for home.

Big win for the BIG. If Michigan and Penn State are able to return to putting together upper end teams every year and OSU and MSU at least stay where they're at, the BIG will be back.

I hope/believe you are correct…but, NFL Network is reporting he's meeting with NFL teams right now. If he has a deal in place with Michigan, why would he even meet with them? What if one of them comes in and offers him full control and at least matches the Michigan offer. I just wish they'd hold a presser now and make it official…heck, I've been more nervous about this coaching search than I was the Florida search.

I'm watching ESPN and the headline is something along the lines of "Harbaugh to Michigan" and Desmond Howard, of all people, is going on about NFL offers and pumping the breaks..

The 49ers would have never let him walk, especially for nothing, if they knew he was going to another NFL team. They can't face that potential backlash. If he was going to take another job in the league, why wouldn't the 49ers do everything they can to get some compensation? He did have a year left on the deal.

These reporters have been all about denying Harbaugh's interest in Michigan and shoving this NFL crap at us. I don't know if it's because of the agenda and not wanting to admit they're wrong, or what, but there's not going to be an NFL offer to sway him. These NFL coaching rumors won't go away today, and heck, some of these guys won't stop even when he's officially Michigan's coach. San Fran and Harbaugh "mutually parting ways" was enough information for me. Around this time tomorrow Jim will be in maize and blue talking about how much he loves Michigan.
