Thanks for the feedback. I love die-hard fans of a team.
I'm going to explain my entire process of how i did the power conf rosters. I went to the team's website to get the info. I use scout.com to get furthur info on new players/rookies. I used you-tube and watch the video on those players. I'm gonna explain all the players you mentioned above:
Trent Lockett -Marquette's website doesn't list him as a grad student(who i know becomes elligible right away) And according to an article, he was trying to get a waiver not for grad school, but to be close to his ailing mother who unfortunatly has cancer. Many of these waiver requests arn't granted till the last minute or so (example Dezmond Wells Maryland due to threats).
Davante Gardner -on Marquette's website right now, he's listed as a PF. He also is not listed as a "C" on the espn boxscore, he's listed at PF playing game 1 vs Colgate.
Todd Mayo - he may be suspended but to the team's knowledge, he's still on the team. Whether he's academically inelligible, etc I normally give players the benefit of the doubt as far as elligibility on the rosters. Now i know you said "in your opinion", and "right now", but my rosters arn't designed for "right now". As far as the best player, I'm looking at the evidence. Last year's returning players : Gardner 9.5 ppg in 19 min, next is VBlue 8.4ppg in 25 min, then you have Mayo 7.9ppg in 21.1 min. That should tell you right there that's it anyone's guess who the best player will be this year. I think it's Mayo, I've seen him in action and I'm sure you've seen more than I have about Marquette. He was coming off the bench doing that stuff behing NBA professional Odom (Lakers).
Jamil Wilson - Is he underrated? He could be. But the team isn't expected to be that good, thus his numbers won't be as high. If he were playing for Duke, his overall rating would be better. Team comes first as far as player ratings. Now there's actually no official position like "SF" in college basketball, but if i was actually copying the starting lineup from the 1st game boxscore ,which i didn't do, i would've changed him to that because they started 3 guards (even though you believe Locket is a SF, he was listed as "G" on the espn boxscore). I didn't see anypreseason boxscore on their website to go by (to decide who they're gonna start) and also, when you're playing a cupcake game 1, coaches may start Seniors and have a lot of bench depth that they normally wouldn't have because they expect to win. note: He was the 4th leading returning scorer 7.1 ppg in 24 min. i stoped at 3rd above.
Steve Taylor- again i get the info from scout.com, which lists him at a PF. With this video i watched, he is one of the fastest and most talented PF in the counrty. I saw post moves, up and unders with the footwork. Explosive dunks and long jump shots, so he can do it all. Again i didin't go by the boxscore from game 1 Colgate, which was on Sunday, so it was up to my discretion who started and got what minutes. I don't know what i wrote about STaylor , but it must have been something good.
I didn't view Marquette as a dominant team this year after losing their top 2 scorers to the NBA. They play 2 non-conference road games this year. At FLA and at Greenbay, so that RPI ain't gonna be that good unless they get 11 wins or better in the Big East.
Now if you don't think this is fair, tell me why, it may change the way i do things next year.
