Luke Smith leaving 1UP

The 1UP Yours crew was pretty vague at the end of last week's podcast but Luke Smith is moving on. He posted on NeoGaf saying he wasn't fired but he's moving on to the competition.

1UP Yours is by far my favorite gaming podcast and it's not going to be the same without him. Luke was honest and funny. Ziff probably wasn't paying him much since he was the news editor and didn't even have a HDTV.

I know Xbox Editor In Chief Doug Perry left IGN so perhaps these 2 will be working on a new site.

i liked luke. he was a favorite of mine at 1up. i wonder what hes gonna do next

That's a shame as I always felt Luke was the Star of the show and I too appreciated his honesty. Luke was probably the only guy on the staff who didn't care who you were or if you worked for Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft.

If he felt they were lying or holding back he had no problems going after them. He will be missed on the show for sure.

You guys definitely should download the 1up show and 1up Yours off of itunes. It's a pretty good show that goes into details about topics in the industry. Pretty good food for thought and interesting podcast. Honestly, I think that they'll survive without him. It will feel weird not having Luke and Shane go at it but the rest of the guys are pretty solid mentally except Garnett. We'll see how it goes.......

On a side note, it might be something very beneficial for all media that they're trying to setup. I can only cross my fingers. Gaming for Maturity.......

Yeah, this sucks for us that love the 1up podcast but hopefully he will return in another podcast in the near future. He will be missed for sure. When I watched the end of the 1up show and saw this I said to myself, What! This can't be. I was totally suprised and had a weird feeling like someone died, lol. But that is not the case, he is just moving on. Hopefully he returns and has an outlet to the gaming community in the near future.

Agreed! I wouldn't mind if they had Mark MacDonald on more.
