CNN reports consumers can create their own video game on xbox 360?
can anyone elaborate on this, how much it costs or where to get the software..

They were probably talking about XNA, which is an application to allow people to create games for XBLA..

You have to pay like 2000 to get the development kit...so it's not something the average joe would ever tinker with....you have to be somewhat serious to want to do this, but it does allow low budget people/companies the ability to even just get in.

Don't think you'll just hop on the computer and xbox and suddenly have the hit adventure game "Murder at Operation Sports"

There is no purchasing of a dev kit. All you need is XNA Game Studio, which is free to download. But in order to test your game on the 360 or submit it to publishing on the XBL community games, you will need to be a member of the XNA Creators Club, which costs $100.

this will be a cool thing. Everything's free except the membership. They even said creators keep the rights to their games. This will cause lots of little indy developers to make games for a service that has millions of subscribers. Springboard to a job with a bigger company possibly.
