I just purchased some component cables for PS2 (Model # SCPH-50001). I have changed the system configurations to 16:9, but none of my wide screen movies playback in 16:9. Everything I do on it gives me the 4:3 bars on the sides. Any suggestions?

sounds like a setting on the TV and not the ps2. Check your tv setting to make sure it is set to display in widescreen on your ps2 connection.

Well when I change the aspect ratio on my t.v to 16:9, video games seemed stretched. The black bars are almost completely gone, they are fairly slim. I imagine this is because no PS2 games are formatted for 16:9?

There are several games that are widescreen or have widescreen modes... some that I know for sure are NCAA, Madden, GTA, RE4.

There are three things that need to be on 16X9 or widescreen mode: 1) The PS2, 2) the TV, and 3) sometimes you have to change the visual option within the settings of the game itself.

Most ps2 games will still have about 1 inch of black bars on each side even if everything is set to 16:9

How good/bad do PS2 games look on a HDTV? I'm considering buying one but I still play a lot of PS2 games on my PS2 (as my PS3 is not fully BC over here in Europe).
