I assume a 80GB since a 40GB would be a downgrade. Less memory and no BC.

If its a 60gb they probably repair since they dont make them anymore. Probably take 2-3 weeks to get back to you. But asking your buddy to buy a u a whole new ps3 just cause he "accidently" fell on your ps3 seems a little outrageous. If it cost money to repair thats fine if he pays the fees.

Well, i turned it on last night and played a game of MLB 08 and the game played fine. The only thing that bothered me with it was that the game seemed to make a loud clicking noise a few times during play and the fan was running at a higher speed than usual causing it to be louder than it normally is. I'm still not convinced that there isn't something wrong with it but I guess as long as the game plays ok, I shouldn't worry about the fan or the clicking noise.

That sucks man. I definitely tell him it's broken and he has 2 options: Cough up the coin to replace or repair. It's not like a PS3 is a $10 toy that you just throw away and not think twice about.

Man you need to get him now. The damn thing will break in a month or two and you will not be able to pin it on him then.

Honestly if I were him I would have offered right then. I dont know how I would be able to be around a friend if I had messed up something of theirs. I backed into a buddies mailbox last year and replaced it.

Good point. Here's some ideas.. Trade in the PS3 on another and try to get him to pay the difference. You get a new rig and the cost for him gets cut a good deal. Second idea: Level with him,which I'd do anyway about it being jacked up and see how he reacts to it. I'm not sure,but doesn't Best Buy take consoles in and has a third party repair them? might be worth looking into. I'd go with my first idea though, and do it soon. Even if he doesn't pay you still wouldn't pay full price on a trade in, good luck-hope it all works out well for you.
