yeah, I did it with my ps2 as well. It's a great feature that makes games load rapidly and keep the loud, and ever fragile DVD drives resting. The main issue with this method was piracy, but MS requires you to have the disk in the drive, which is fine with me.

Among a few RROD's, I've had a 360 with a drive that cracked disks, and they're generally loud as hell. Letting it rest cuts the noise, and probably helps a little with the heat that causes the RROD too. Win all around.

Yeah, I don't see myself paying Microsoft's hard drive prices right now, but that's just me...

*edit* I do think I can clear out my HD enough for one or two games, and that would probably suffice since I'm more of a "play one game at a time" gamer.
