I just bought this surround sound system and need some help

That one is definitely better... you would just need an optical cable running from the TV's output to the receiver and it should work for your needs. That one has DTS and Pro Logic II also.

How many optical cords do i need...Is it only for the ps3 or do i need one for 360 as well

If your 360, PS3, and DirectTV are hooked up to your TV via HDMI as you indicated, you should just need the one optical cord to run from the TV to the surround unit.

And it's my pleasure man... I never mind helping out with stuff like this. Hah, I've been hooking stuff up for people since I was 6, so I should probably start a Geek Squad-type business on my own or something heh. Geek Mercenary for hire.

Ok cool...Yea I have PS3 and 360 and Direct TV all on hdmi...

So I guess I will just get the Optical and run that from tv to receiver and I should be good..

guru, why are you getting this system with a dvd player attached? I would suggest against it unless you need a DVD Player.

Pioneer is a reputable company that specializes in Audio. Yes this system doesn't offer HDMI, but it seems like you really don't need it.
