I have a max drive device that I put into my computer, saved a game save from gamefaqs on it, took it out, put it into my ps2, and nothing came up recognizing the device. what am I missing? Is there a CD thats needed? is my device broke?

I don't think anything is broken, it's just that there's a boot up disc (half the size of the normal PS2 game/DVD) that is needed when you boot up the PS2.
