Putting a game on the hard drive.

How do you do this on the 360?

Re: Putting a game on the hard drive.

1) With the disc in the drive, go to the 360 dashboard
2) Highlight the first panel of the "My Xbox" row (where you'd normally press A to load the disc...but don't press A)
3) Press Y to access "Game Details"
4) On the next screen you can select "Install to Hard Drive"

Doesn't need to spin the DVD drive to play (though the disc still needs to be in the drive). It makes the 360 quiet like when streaming a movie or something, rather than the somewhat "jet engine" sounds the drive can make while playing.

Re: Putting a game on the hard drive.

Does it help keep the 360 cool? Therefore helping prevent the RRoD?

Re: Putting a game on the hard drive.

Before you put the disc in,make sure to disable auto-launch from your system options. Then, you will always have the option to copy, delete,or play from the HDD.
I have found that after playing for hours from the HDD,game discs are cool to the touch after ejecting. They are insanely hot when played from the disc drive.
It stands to reason playing from the HDD keeps the system cooler.
