XBOX 360 VGA cable question

I been using my 360 with a VGA cable on my sharp aquos 40 in, full 1080p hdtv. The problem is that if I try to set my 360 for full hd (1920x1080), it wont work even though my tv's native resolution is 1080p. So I have to stick with the 1280x720 (720p) vga resolution. It looks fine but I'm just wondering why I cannot set it at the full resolution?

With a component connection I do get 1080p. However, since I really dont use my 360 too much (mainly use my ps3), I have connected other devices to the component inputs and my 360 does not have an HDMI port. So that leaves me with the VGA option for my 360 if I want HD resolution. Any ideas as to why I cant get it to my tv's full 1080p resolution?

I don't know. Mine works at 1920X1080 resolution. What happens when you select it?

^nothing. Screen goes black and then says resolution not supported and goes back to the previous resolution. I'm guessing my tv doesn't support full hd through vga connections.

Found that from Madcatz...dunno if MS makes one, but you may be able to find some adapter that allows you to use HDMI

Ha, my TV is just the opposite. I get 1080p from VGA but when I connect through Component and select 1080p it goes black and says mode not supported.
