You definitely don't wanna miss 2K7 for the PS2/Xbox. I started playing it 2 days ago and having a blast! The best old-gen basketball game to me (other than ID2004 which I haven't played yet and don't know how good it is).
Just check out this video. The guy playing with the Heat vs the Mavs (CPU). He's a cheeser who's trying to do it all with Wade, and you can see how the CPU's giving him hard time. Check out how the CPU works for open shots and how every player plays like himself. Just beautiful!
