EA launches Origin, takes aim at Steam

The one thing it has going for it is it is exclusive for Star Wars Old Republic. I wonder if it will also be the only place to get Mass Effect 3. If that is the case it will get plenty of attention because those games will sell like crazy.

Damn you EA.

You forget how many games EA actually publishes until things like this happen. Everything is centralized very nicely in Steam. I really don't want to have to install an entirely new platform just to play a few games.



Edit: However, I'm also interested to see how future releases are handled. I also want to see how they integrate the service into mobile devices.

Anyone think we may see a return to PC for Madden/NCAA (obviously not this year) anytime soon with Origin being a way to download it? I could see EA offering them as download only titles. At the same time, I really just don't know if they want to return to PC just yet.

Meh I'm only really getting into Steam due to my new laptop, I'll use this for SWTOR and well see about anything else

I found a $10 off coupon for Alice.
There was no way to put it in for my pre-order.
Had to go through the checkout again.
Nowhere to canel the pre-order. Had to go to EA support chat to get it cancelled through the support chat (waiting for 15 minutes for something that took 2) then re-pre-order it and use the code. I'm not even sure it went through properly. I got a recipt in the e-mail but I can't view the invoice using the program. Simple things they should have.

Well for something positive it has the same DL speed as Steam at least.
