Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Picked up a 4090 yesterday and the performance gains are unreal. This thing chews through every game I've played so far. I just can't believe how much faster it is than my 3090.

Don’t start being a bad influence. I love the portability aspect of it.

Like I’m on vacation in FL. Last night I wanted to continue my franchise in M21 but didn’t feel like setting up my laptop. With that daggum Steam Deck it would be quick and easy like the Switch.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Gotta love Steam sales. Just picked up 2K23 & Modern Warfare Remastered! I'm leaning into this laptop gaming with my little GTX 1650 Mobile. LOL

Question though:
So I often use videocardbenchmark.net to compare my GTX 1650 (Mobile) in my Acer Nitro 5 to whatever is minimum/recommended for a game I'm interested in. Is there anything else I should be looking at other than the "G3D Mark Rating"?

I'm still in the early stages of steam sale denial. I know I definitely don't need anything new until I clear through some of the big boys in my backlog, so I'm just adding games to my wishlist and pretending I'll buy them in a future sale.

I wouldn't get too hung hung up on the minimum and recommended specs for any given game. They tend to not be all that consistent anyways. I'm not super familiar with the 1650, but even with the mobile version you should still be able to run the vast majority of modern games at 1080p with a mixture of med/low settings, I would guess...

What kind of cpu is in that bad boy?

Oh, ok.. that's a pretty decent cpu.

I had a similarly spec'd laptop a few years back. Think it had an intel 8th gen i5 and a GTX 1060. Depending on what trade offs you're willing to make settings wise, that thing should be serviceable for the vast majority of games.

How does it handle something like the Spiderman remaster?

Plays it really well as far as I’m concerned lol
