Re: Sony PlayStation Meeting Discussion Thread

Why would they do a new handheld after discontinuing support of an already impressive handheld in the Vita, especially when they failed to market and sell it (with its peripherals) the right way?

I never was a handheld gamer until the Vita, so if this one has wowing specs then color me interested, but I kind of refuse to let go of what I already have because they could still do so much more with it given the right support. Though if it can truly do something close to what a PS4 can do, then hot damn I can't pass that up either.

They have to learn from last time though. Not just with how to sell it, but ergonomically how to not limit what one can do versus the other.

With a better product not hamstrung by other interests (ie gouging w/ proprietary storage, over designing and adding something like the back plate that few titles used effectively) perhaps they think they can erode Nintendo's hold on the market. They've watched them fail pretty spectacularly with their last couple of console efforts (Wii was a flash w/ no longevity, Wii U struggled to gain traction w/ anyone other than the faithful) perhaps they think they can leverage the PS4's success to move back into mobile also.

If they'd launched a Vita revision that had dual triggers and clicky sticks I'd probably still own a PS4. Fix the PS4's short-sighted streaming implementation via the new PS4 revisions, release a competent handheld that's focused on the gaming as much as the bottom line and it could be a very successful platform IMO.

With the Vita it was probably too expensive to pivot, if they were going to put forth the effort it was going to go towards a new product.

Well, if you're hanging onto the Vita with hopes that it will get the right support, you're going to be waiting a long, long time. Lol.

I agree though... despite Sony's epic fail in support, marketing, and sales, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in a PSP/Vita 2. Ditch that stupid back panel, take Nintendo's cue and add additional shoulder buttons, and let's rock and roll. Those changes would also make it a much better remote play platform.

We'll see I guess!

48 hours from now we will, hopefully, be much more enlightened than we are now as far as what to expect.

Excited!

LOL wow....that would be crazy

Uhm.....I honestly dunno what the precedent is for something like his, as far as it being realistic or not.

I would LOVE for that to happen, but something tells me it won't.

There have been so many rumors regarding NEO and whatnot, pretty wild lol

Something tells me they mixed up NEO with the Slim, as far as rumors of being released this week

Re: Sony PlayStation Meeting Discussion Thread

Yeah, hard to say. News outlets were confusing the One S and Scorpio too, could be the same thing there.
