Re: Next-Gen Sports Console

Right now I'd probably say PS5, but I'd wait to see actual comparisons in performance and stuff to be sure. It'll be close if there's any console better than another. Otherwise you look at what ecosystems you might invest in (Game Pass vs. Sony, etc)

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console

The fact that series X has locked numbers on the GPU and CPU and a better GPU and slightly better CPU should tell you what you need to know about how sports games will run next gen.

MLB THe SHow
NBA 2K
Madden
Fifa

Those games will have the chance to be best on X just based on spec sheet.

PS5 has variable clocks which means when GPU stresses the CPU drops in performance

Series X has both CPU and GPU clocks locked at all times

I'm intrigued by DF's writeup after release...I'm in the Xbox Ecosystem anyways, but always wonder how this'll go.

I’m going to assume Sony won’t let the show run better on the Xbox.

The SSD in the PS5 is awesome and is better than the one on the X but those advantages will not reflect on multi plat games like sports games.

That advantage will show on first party titles that sony can leverage that advantage. 3rd party will cater to lowest common denominator and the only advantage in third party games you might get is a slight increase in loading times but I am very skeptical of that since MS has implement their Velocity feature for their SSD that is suppose to narrow that gap sustainably with ps5 ssd

I just do not trust variable clocks profiles in a console

When the GPU is maxing the CPU is downscaling their power and vice versa

On the X the clocks are locked and that variable denominator will not take place and at the end of the day they have more CU

That would be a good assumption that I can agree with

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console

It’ll probably look slightly better on the X. However with PS5 going to be the more popular console you’ll get more custom rosters and sliders from the community on PS5. I’d base the decision off that and what system your friends are getting. Can’t go wrong either way.

Re: Next-Gen Sports Console

So is it safe to say 3rd party games will perform better on xbox this gen? I'm sure graphically both systems will be about even.
