Icon10 Thinking of making a budget team for fun....Posting Results

I'm pretty bored with my team. Sick of high rated players under performing. So here is what I am thinking. Any advice would be appreciated.
LF- Starlin Marte
CF- Joc Pederson
RF- Lorenzo Cain
1B- Prince Feilder
2B- ??????
SS- DD created or Iglesias
3B- JHay, Carpenter, or Frazier
C- Salvador Perez, and Possibly VMart
P- Verlander, Shelby Miller, Alfredo Simon, ????
RP- Romo, Nate Jones, Soria, ???
CP- AJ Ramos

It gonna kill me not to have Adam Jones, and Joey Votto though. Both are studs.
Any suggestions? Maybe Hosmer?

First Update:
Marte is just amazing. I have been using him for some time now. Just wanted to share that.
Hosmer is on FIRE! Really has been clutch. Has a great, smooth swing. Defensively he is unbeatable. He never seems to OLE' ground balls. I had Votto on 1b before. If I decide to switch my team back to the way it was. Hosmer will remain on first. Just because of defense.
Pederson is a stud. I am really taken back, by how good of a hitter he really is. I know people say he is only good against Righty's, but so far I disagree. 2 of his bombs have been off Lefties. He is also a great gap hitter, and has good speed to leg out extra base hits with ease. I have him starting in RF, and that is my only complaint so far. He seems to be running in "Sand" out there. He really doesn't get a good jump on the ball. Seems to always get there at the last second. He doesn't cut the ball off well either. I may need to put Cain in RF, and try Joc in CF.
Cain is a solid #1, or #2 hitter. He is really fast on the bases, and seems to hit Doubles with ease. Great in the OF, but has a weak arm. I am used to having Adam Jones' arm out there, so this has hurt me a few times.
Wilhelmsen is the unexpected star from the pen. The guy is almost un-hittable. Throws 96-98 4 seam, 83-86 Change, and an unbelievable Curveball at 75-78.

Hosmer is really solid. Great fielding and great contact. Plus he's cheap

His card looks pretty good. Plus I really like Hosmer as a player.
Maybe I can put JHay at 2B, and use Carpenter at 3B. JHay has always been really good for me. I have been thinking about using Kolten Wong though.
Marte is my LF on my current team. He is just so damn good. The only thing I think this team may lack is a really speedy guy.

I would go with Scooter Gennett at 2nd. 95 contact 50 Power vs righties, hes the everyday 2nd baseman on my team. The only problem is he will get a huge downgrade in attributes within the next few updates, Brewers sent him down to the minors on Monday.

Team rankings between 78 and 88 are on par with competing against MLB franchise teams. Get a lineup of starters, mix a few role players on the bench with a couple 3-5 hole SPs and one or two mop up relievers to give them some loving. Good games.

Re: Thinking of making a budget team for fun....

I find it to be fun when a Silver level player plays well. When you get Rod Carew, and he hits .290-.320 you kind of expected that. When you get Marte (before he got his bump), and he hits .365 31 HR's, 70 RBI's with 23 SB's in 400 AB's. It's like WOW....he was totally worth 1500 stubs. Then you go spend 50-90K on Trout or Cutch, and Marte out performs them. I want to find an entire team like Marte. Seems like people are having good luck with Joc, Cain.
I have gotten my butt kicked by teams like this. Not cheesed, or lagged. Just good old fashioned hard working ball players.

Oh yeah, Joc is incredible versus righties. Plus solid speed and he's a steal for a couple hundred
