Player Missions

I have a question about how you guys are advancing these player missions. For instance, I have the mission for the Nationals Epic to get two doubles with Cliff Floyd.

Are you guys just throwing these guys at the top of your lineup and letting them get as many AB's as possible?

Also if I finished the collection for a player but haven't done the portion where you have to defeat the team twice on rookie, does any of their stats count, or does it wait until you've completed the first part of the team epic?

Sorry for the rookie question but this is my first year playing DD.

Yes I just get as many ABs as possible. And no the stats won't count, as far as I know you have to do the epics in order.

This is correct, you have to do the Team Epics in that order specified, you can't pre-plan getting the whole Team Epic all at once by playing with the Collection card early etc.
