Re: Rebuilding Rutgers: A College Hoops 2K8 Legacy

Rutgers Playing Rotation
Coach Mike has announced that his Scarlet Knights will be running 9 deep this year and that J.R Inman will stay in the game at all times unless he gets into foul trouble. The rotation is as follows.

Starting Lineup

PG: Anthony Farmer, JR, 69 OVR

SG: Corey Chandler, FR, 72 OVR

SF: Earl Pettis, FR, 68 OVR

PF: JR Inman, JR, 76 OVR

C: Hamady Ndiaye, SO, 64 OVR

Bench
Mike Coburn, FR, 67 OVR
Jaron Griffen, JR, 66 OVR
Justin Sofman, FR, 65 OVR
Byron Joynes, SR, 64 OVR

When asked about his team outlook for this season, Coach Mike told the press that Rutgers was in a "rebuilding phase" and that "an NIT bid would be a huge success, but in all honesty it will be a struggle to finish over 500".

Rutgers vs Tennessee Tech

Key Players

Rutgers

Coburn: 8 Pts, 4 ast, 1 stl
Chandler: 19 Pts, 2 ast
Sofman: 13 Pts
Pettis: 4 Pts, 4 Reb, 2 Stl
Inman: 18 Pts, 10 Reb, 3 Blk

Tennessee Tech

Fisher: 21 Pts, 3 ast, 2 stl
Davis: 11 pts, 2 stl
Nixon: 13 Pts, 2 stl

Game Summary: Coach Mike's first game was a thriller. Tennessee Tech started off the game full of energy and passion and played near perfect while Rutgers was the complete opposite. Junior guard Anthony Farmer was being lit up by Fisher and the only consistent offensive threat was JR Inman, who finished the half with 10 points. Frustrated by the lack of energy his starters were playing with, Coach Mike subbed everyone by Inman out with 6 minutes left in the half. The bench managed to do better then the starters and they cut into the 20 point deficit Rutgers had. At halftime, Rutgers trailed by 14 and Coach Mike decided changed were needed. He abandoned RU's normal walk it up style and went to his own Fast Paced style of offense. He also decided to play small ball with Coburn, Chandler, Sofman, Pettis and Inman. With it's new lineup and style, Rutgers made a great comeback that was capped off by a Corey Chandler layup to tie the game with 2 minutes left. Rutgers later clinched the game on back to back 3's made by Sofman and Chandler to give them a 4 point lead and the win.

Rutgers: 67

Tennessee Tech: 63

Rutgers vs North Dakota State

Key Players

Rutgers

Coburn: 6 Pts, 3 ast, 3 stl
Chandler: 3 pts, 1-11 shooting
Sofman: 14 pts, 4 3's
Pettis: 4 Pts
Inman: 34 Pts, 16 Reb, 2 Stl

North Dakota State

Woodside: 38 pts
Winkleman: 15 pts, 5 reb

Game Summary: Rutgers started off the game with a new starting lineup. Coach Mike abandoned his traditional 2 big man, 1 sf, and 2 guard lineup and went with a 3 guard, 1 sf, and 1 C lineup with JR playing C. Inman responded to his new position by going off for 34 points in a quality with for RU. Time and time again Inman would drive past his slower opponent and beat him on the boards. Corey Chandler was a disappointment in this game and made a lot of freshmen mistakes, he'll have to step up his game if Rutgers wants to have any shot of making the NIT.

Rutgers: 72

North Dakota State: 63

Rutgers is now 2-0 (0-0)
