Re: Understanding on-screen player icons...

Have you all noticed on the formation section of the play call menu, some of the players will have a yellow outline? (I assume that’s wear and tear).

But then on the formation part of the play all menu, you’ll see the various circles for the lineup. Players are represented by circles with their number in the middle, star players have a star instead of a circle, and typically these are filled with a grey type color.

I noticed in a recent game in dynasty, a couple of the player circles on the formation screen were filled with white instead of grey. In online play, they are al white … what does this mean?

Hmmm, I'll have to look out for that, there's stamina and wear and tear, but I dunno about all white beyond maybe composure related?

I am going to do an article on this though either on Sunday or Monday to at least get a lot of these in one place for peeps.

Okay we've put up a guide for a bunch of these icons. We can add to it if more come up. The first post in this thread has also been updated with a link to the story.

The only other icon I've seen that isn't listed thus far is a number on a blue triangle. This icon is associated with the highest tier of Field General, it (briefly and occasionally) shows up pre snap in coach cam over the heads of the opposing safeties, and it reveals the family of coverage the opposing defense is running regardless of their disguise.

For example, if you hold down R2 / RT and you see a "1" flash up over both safeties, you now know the defense is in Cover 1 Hole, Cover 1 Robber, or Cover 1 Blitz.

Is there a way to turn all of these off, or at least from showing on the screen. I know many around here want a clean screen, so curious if that’s an option.

So I have figured out the “gray” comes from when you push triangle on the formations section of the play call menu. The subbing doesnt quite make sense to me yet but that’s when players turn gray … I wonder if it just identifies subs. I’d attach a screenshot but I can’t here. Try it when you can to see if it makes sense!

Re: EA Sports College Football 25 On-Screen Player Icon Guide

Does anyone know how the icons under the passing meter work? For Revamped Passing, once the ball is in the air I see square, triangle ect with words after. So far i was only able to read one icon saying catch and run.

My question is how do i user catch and use these icons to my advantage? Do i hit circle to control the WR first, then hit the icon that appears under the pass meter? Or do i just hit the icon? Is this a timing function? Do i tap the icon or hold it down?

These are the receiver catching controls introduced in Madden NFL 16.

After you throw a pass, you can tap or hold the corresponding button to tell the receiver to attempt a specific kind of catch. You do not need to use Circle (PS5) / B (XBOX) to switch onto the receiver first, just tap or hold the corresponding button as the ball is in the air.

Triangle / Y: Aggressive Catch - the receiver will attempt to high-point the ball and pluck it out of the air
Square / X: RAC Catch - the receiver will attempt to catch the ball without breaking his stride
Cross / A: Possession Catch - the receiver maximize ability to and focus on catching the pass, but sacrifice run-after-catch opportunities
