How do you earn player skill points in dynasty (not coach points)?

I’m curious if anyone knows how players on your roster earn skill points in dynasty mode and what you can do to help them gain more? When I go to the player card screen my players seem to have anywhere from 0-3 skill points, and they don’t seem to align with performance. For example, my QB who has been a monster has 1 SP, my star CB has 0, but my #2 WR has 3 (which is still not enough to upgrade anything).

Anyone know how these SP are earned in dynasty mode?

I honestly don’t think it works. The “option” seems to be there but I have NEVER had a player have enough “points” to upgrade anything myself for ANY player in their 4 years. I’ve had multiple 200+ yd games with my RB. Multiple seasons of over 2k yards……never once has he had enough points in that player info screen to upgrade ANY attribute. I think the only way to upgrade players is whatever the game sees fit to add to their overall after each season, which also seems to have NOTHING to do with how well they do stat-wise. It’s incredibly frustrating and EA has been dead quiet about it. It’s a 100% non-working “feature” right now IMO.

It works
My most productive WR started the season at 74. He's now a 77 in week 6. I've had multiple guys progress, some more than others. The XP sliders impact the rate at which guys develop in-season. If it's anything like madden it would be impacted by stats and awards. It's a shame we have no way to see what is impacting it and how.

I know the players overall will change eventually just leaving it up to the CPU. My point is that screen the OP is referring to where we SHOULD be able to upgrade the players ourselves doesn’t work.

It most certainly works. It’s all done automatically for us. If you’re saying that you think we should be able to manually upgrade them (I don’t think we should) then, no you don’t do it manually. It’s done for us.

Here’s my FR HB to show it in action. The after photo was take the week following the before. In before his xp bar was nearly full. He got enough xp from his next game to fill it and start a new xp bar.

He earned 1 skill point from that full bar. In before you can see his IQ costs 1 point to upgrade. In after you can see he bought an IQ point (raising the associated attributes) and that was enough to increase his overall.

As far as I can tell, the cpu always prioritizes the cheapest skills and upgrades them as soon as he has enough skill points.

I haven’t paid attention to how much xp players gain or how (if) it correlates to on field performance.

It can be tough to tell if they’re progressing though as they spend skills points as soon as they can. I.e. look at my guy in the above post. In both photos he has 0 available skill points, so it looks like he didn’t progress, but that’s because he spent his earned skill point before I ever even saw it.

EDIT: I also saw that his route running costs 1 skill point, so on his next level up he’ll once again spend his point before I see it, so it’ll look like he’s not progressing unless I pay close attention to his attributes.

Is the screen you’re talking about the one I screenshotted above? If so, what about that screen makes you think that we should have input into how the points are spent? I don’t think we should have input and that the screen is functioning properly.

If you’re talking about another screen, then I might not be familiar with it.
