I also make use of the Maryland I and it does wonders for my inside game. Its obviously great for short yardage but I've had my share of ten plus yard runs out of the formation too.

I almost exclusively run out of spread formations, and prefer when it's 4 wide. Run formations usually get stuffed for me, so I just use 3 yard passes as my run game. That then makes the CPU put defenders in the flats which opens up the middle for a random 7 yard run gain.

I find running 0 I trip is a huge running play if you time your run and don’t just sprint forward. I routinely get 5+ yard runs on it most of the time unless it’s an all out blitz. I find running up the middle easier because of plays like that.

If there's a safety in the box, the defense is going to have numbers vs inside run. Also don't want to run into gaps with defenders sitting in them. We don't know your linemen's run block ratings, defenders ratings, fronts, etc.

Hmm. I mean I can still get 2/3 yards on crucial 3rd downs but I don't know. Balance seems right to me because I run over low and mid-tier D-lines.

One thing I'll note, this is the first EA game in years where I've had any success with HB draws. Online players love to spread their DL in the hopes of getting by the tackles without engaging, and it does leave inside lanes to get through. I've pulled off a number of explosive runs with it.

Re: Inside runs against high rated teams = waste of a down?

I’ve had way more inside running success by doing two things:

1. Understanding what the play is supposed to be in regards to blocking. I’m very rudimentary at this, but play art and some practice has helped. Madden 24 is free is you have Game Pass and the skills trainer is great for basic concept stuff.

2. Using the Left Trigger or L2 to see who’s blocking(or intending to block) who once you’ve got a concept of the above.

Inferior lineman will get beat. Use Left Trigger/L2 to see matchups as well. Running outside won’t make things better in my experience.

I can’t speak to Heisman as I’m unable, and I refuse to address PVP because it’s gross.
