Tournament advice

I'm playing in a NCAA tournament tommorow night, and I need some advice on what to look out for. I am good, but I'm used to playing against my friends who are huge football fans and play the game like a game of football. I know there are people out there that use quirks in the game to their advantage, and don't play it more like an arcade game than a game of football. What should I watch out for? More importantly, what can I do to stop them besides just getting into shootout after shootout?

Re: Tournament advice

How are you playing? Picking a new team each game, one team all the way through? In tourny play, a fast QB is almost always necessary.

Re: Tournament advice

what sucks is i wont know till i talk to the manager a few hours before the tourney. i would assume new teams each game, cause its a 50 man tournament and there aren't 50 "competitive" teams.

Re: Tournament advice

From my experience, watch out for the guys that like to take a mobile QB and sprint out and then either run or throw the deep pass. (they are too easy to complete). I would jsut be carful about that. Also watch out for the speedy DE's and the constant blitz'

HB direct snaps are dangerous.

Well, considering for tourny play, the only thing you really need is speed, here is the order of teams you'll want:

1. LSU (sub in Perilloux)
2. USC (Sub in Hinds)
3. Texas
4. OSU
5. FSU (put in Lee)

Sad, but to win tournies you pretty much have to cheese your way through a shootout by running direct snaps and deep passes.

Re: Tournament advice

LSU has always been my first choice. I was kind of gravitating twards miami because of their defense

Defense is worthless. Eventually you're going to go against a HB direct/QB scramble/Hail Mary guy. If you want to be really cheap, sub in WRs for safeties/CBs. The only defense in tournies is user picks.
