how do you beat blitz happy teams

i cant for the life beat a team that blitzes alot is it me or does the programming not allow you too i mean i know to throw a lot of screens and stuff like that but everytime i throw a screen either the lb jumps and knocks it down or the blocking is so bad that i get hit as soon as i get the ball from the center or the blocking never gets set up outside, how do you beat a blitz happy opponent, this is for the 360.

Re: how do you beat blitz happy teams

Me personally, I like to beat blitz happy teams with the WR screen, and quick slants to my perimeter WR's

Depends where the blitz is coming from.

Outside blitz...quick outs/slants. Inside blitz...over the middle with a TE or quick in. Playaction works well too because most of the time they swarm the ball carrier and on a roll-out you can get free of the blitz and either take off with the QB or find someone wide open.

how do you guys throw quick slants? they always get picked off by the corners. they're always running in front of the reciever so you can't throw it.

It all depends on the coverage. Don't forget your hot receiver. I managed to beat Oklahoma State the other night on two long TD passes to my halfback. One of them he went untouched down the sideline. On the other, he broke one tackle and took it the distance.

Crossing patterns against blitzes are great. Or if you can hit your slot receiver on a seam pattern (when the linebackers blitz), you'll get a big gain.

Playaction is suicidal against blitzes. Especially ones that come up the middle.

I try to guess where it's coming from and set up multiple hot routes to beat it. I usually start with keeping a back in to block and hot route a slant or an out with a WR. I also have a HB Screen from the shotgun formation as one of my audibles.

You can usually see the blitz coming. If a safety is walking up towards the line, he's doing it to cover a back or a TE. He's only doing that because a LB is coming on the blitz.

One option is to audible a quick slant. Fairly effective and a decent gain.

One thing I have been doing a lot recently is calling a blocking hot route for my TE or FB to get extra protection. On the 360, the left or right trigger will tell the assigned player to block instead of running a route.

This extra blocker has given me the extra second I need to get a pass off for a big gain on several occasions.

I almost look forward to the blitzing now. If I get my protection right, it means single coverage for my WR's, and that's a good thing.

TE is the key for me. I always throw a quick one ot him up the middle if the LB blitz's his side and it usually is at laeast a 10 yard gain before the safety or corner can get to him to tackle him. Also use the backs out of the backfield. If the outside LB blitzes then toss a nice lob pass the the back and watch him gain big chunks on the outside. Quick slants work well too. throw it in hard to make sure that only your guy has a chance at it.
