Keeping NCAA in favor of madden?

I'm really undecided at this point if I should trade the game in for Madden, the real issue I'm having is with cpu interceptions. Pass rush isn't an issue for me, sure it's hard to get to the QB but I still usually end up with about 2 maybe 3 sacks a game with 5 minute quarters which is ok.

Some people seem to think Madden is the best football game ever this year, but others have said that it has the same issues that NCAA does so it's basically the same game with an NFL skin. Has anyone who has traded in one for the other or played both provide some insight? Was it worth the trade, or is it basically the same game. I'm having fun with NCAA I don't think it's a terrible game, but some aspects are certainly a bit more annoying than I'd like.

I have both and I've always been a bigger NCAA fan than Madden but this Madden is far and away a better game.

Good choice, you would have kicked yourself a month from now when you got the urge to play NCAA with teh patch and would need to buy it again for 60 bucks.

Same here. NCAA was my game for years... until this gen screwed it up. IMO, Madden is much better than NCAA at this point. I bought NCAA and am holding on to it until PATCH 2 arrives. If I'm able to tweak sliders and have the game at least playable (for me), I'll keep it. If not, it will be sold or traded in.

I'm currently renting Madden right now, but am having a good time with it, so I may end up purchasing it. It does have the some of the same issues as NCAA (High Comp% for HUM and CPU, and poor CPU run game), but I think/hope I can get it playing decent with slider adjustments.

The one thing that continues to bug the **** out of me for both games is the CPU playcalling. The sad thing is I don't think they will be fixing this via patch (at least this year). Madden is still better than NCAA in this respect, but both are still not as good as last gen. The CPU throws underneath way too much. EA really needs to work on this for next year because it can get boring after a while.

I was in this same predicament until I found out Madden has a serious draft/FA bug, and the progression/regression issues are still there. Plus, someone made a good point the other day; the great thing about NCAA is you can control a team that is constantly evolving. Your slow-*** quarterback will be graduating soon, and you can recruit that scrambler QB next year and convert your offense to the spread option. In Madden it's the same guys every year, over and over again. NCAA is just more entertaining and fun to play in this regard.

Plus I'm more of a college football fanatic so it's always great to play with your favorite team, or take a bad team and get them into the top 25 before pulling an Urban Meyer and leaving for greener pastures so to speak.

On the other hand, NCAA does have its issues (bugs, glitches, gameplay flaws) just like Madden. I think both games play great, but franchise/dynasty is the main reason I buy these games, and the franchise issues in Madden killed it for me.

I've actually had more fun with NCAA. It's actually a more polished game IMO.
And when patch #2 comes out which is supposed to address zone defense I will be restarting my dynasty.

Re: Keeping NCAA in favor of madden?

I have them both and will likely be playing NCAA much more than Madden. Madden is technically superior and it does play a more "sim" game of football, but it is just boring me. The crowd is lifeless and Tom Hammond is awful (Collinsworth is great though). I do not like Madden's camera view either - it's too close to the field and the score display is in a bad position on teh screen. I just have a lot more fun playing NCAA despite its quirks. The atmosphere is electric and I just like playing a more wide open game of football. I will likely play a few seasons of Madden just to see how my Michigan players evolve though (though I heard player progression is messed up ).
