What's the Point of Pre-Ordering?

I normally preorder because the games i have i don't play and i want to play the game as soon as i can rather than not sleeping or calling stores to find out when they open and pacing outside like a crack head waiting for them. or one time waiting for the fedex guy to come.

The main point of preordering is that most gamestops will sell at midnight only if you have a preorder.

Of course you could just go down to walmart but I'm not sure if all of them will be as helpful selling the game at midnight

I've got a Gamestop, Wal-Mart, Target, & Best Buy within 10 minutes of each other so I don't really need to. The couple of times GS has sold out, I've been able to go the BB to get what I need. Plus, BB doesn't try to beat you over the head with preordering something else, protection plans, etc. I did get NCAA 09 from Wal Mart at midnight. There was just one other guy there looking to buy and the woman working the electronics area was clueless until another lady wheeled out the boxes containing the games.

I did preorder UFC 2009 for the extra fighters though. I wasn't expecting them to do a midnight release for it either so I'm pleased.

I just gotta figure out which gamestop i wanna preorder at.

If you put down $5 on a game and you don't get the game you can have the $5 credited back to you on a different game. If I were you I would put down only $5 at each Gamestop you go to so you know you will get the game you want when it comes out instead of waiting like you did and go to the other Gamestop and have them transfer your $5 to a new game you want to preorder. You only need $5 to preorder a game so I don't know why it is such an issue for some people. They must think you must pay for the game in full to preorder it.

There's no point to pre-ordering any more, hence why so many pre-order deals contain other stuff (get a USB memory stick! Get a figurine! Get special unlockables!).

You will usually get a code with your game that you will have to enter to unlock the extra slots.
