Re: Formation Subs - Really that big of a deal?

for me it is a big thing that the formation subs are not in the game. as many others have mentioned i too like to play as many of my players as possible. i like to use different packages with different players who have different abilities. for instance if i am in a tight/big formation and my top 2 rbs are more speed guys i then have to pause the game and go to the depth chart and put my big back in. with formation subs i would plan accordingly to have my big rbs with my shortage formations and using my speed/receiving back would be put in during 3rd down situations. with formation subs i have my stradegy planned out already and i wont have to worry about wasting time pausing back and forth.

also another reason why i like formation subs is i then get all of my players playing time leaving less of a chance of transfers. also on my defensive side i like to have my two best coverage linebackers on the nickel. well sometimes my the default linebackers on the nickel arent quick or good enough coverage. its a waste of time to keep on going back and forth to the depth chart screen.

dont understand how a simple option has been constantly left out. hell i am still waiting for 85 man rosters but ill probably be 50 yrs old before EA adds that to the game.

Re: Formation Subs - Really that big of a deal?

I'm new here, but yes formation subs is definitely a big deal. It was bs when they took them out and I don't understand why they won't put them back in. Fans have been begging for them to be put back in for a few years now. It's probably the easiest thing to stick back in. Instead of coming up with all these stupid new features like Showdown, stick formation subs back in because it's what the people who actually buy the game want.

If I have a few good backs I like to give a couple of them a package so they will always get a few carries. The same with wide receivers. I have 6-8 receivers on my team and three of them play 99% of the snaps. I'd like to stick my back up receivers in a few sets. The same on special teams. I should be able to choose who I want covering kicks, etc.

I've bought the game since Weinke was on the cover every year the day it comes out, but this is the first time I'm not sure if I will buy it immediately or even buy it at all. I just think it's ridiculous that the guys who develop NCAA Football have their heads shoved so far up their *** that they can't put in little features that the fans have been begging to have back in for years.

Sorry about the rant, It's just been pissing me off ever since they took them out and they refuse to put them back. Make sure you keep that awesome Mascot game in the game though. So many people love to play that pos feature.

The developers of NCAA need to take notes from the guys who do the NHL series. They listen to the fans and try to make improvements based on what the fans want since we are the ones who buy it.

Im all for formation subs but an even better solution could be simple being able to set your packages. Like having a speed set, big set, 3rd down set... just being able to put who u want in certain packages would be clutch then u could right stick at the play call screen to the packages.

and please be able to set special team packages.

Im just amazed at the steps backwards this game has taken since the move to next gen.
give me all the bells and whistles and game play from 2006 NCAA on next gen platform and I'd be a happy man

Thats where the beef is! The direction this game has taken is a$$ backwards. NCAA '06 was so good, that it put the EXPECTATIONS of us, the consumer, so high that EA can't repeat it. But I continue to hope......

Yes, yes it's important. For the 1st year in a while I'm holding onto the PS2 09 version b/c I'm not holding my breath for 10 next gen, or 10 last gen being nothing more than a roster update.

That's my biggest beef. Formation subs were always on last-gen. I never considered them some 'special feature' because since I started playing NCAA games formation subs were always an option. They may seem like 'no big deal' to some players, and they can have that opinion, but for me they add an extra level of customization and increases the lasting appeal of dynasty.
