Re: Has anyone blocked a punt or a FG? Is a patch needed?

I blocked my first FG on the demo last night I can't remember ever blocking one before. Unfortunately i have no trick to pass along. All i can say is that it was a long attempt and I called the heavy FG block with my D line setting at agressive. I'm pretty sure it was one of my D Lineman just crashed through and didn't even put a hand up just got in front of the holder quickly and the ball hit him either on the chest or belly.

Re: Has anyone blocked a punt or a FG? Is a patch needed?

As much as I agree that Special Teams is a huge part of football, I'm glad that blocking FG and Punts is d@mn near impossible. I just fear that if they adjust the game to make blocks possible, it will be done incorrectly and overdone. I keep remembering Madden 2002 (the second edition on the PS2) when punts were ridiculously easy to block by simply spreading the line. If they can somehow come up with a happy medium than I would say yes, but I have the feeling that if its included it will be overdone and someone will find a way to block them with ease. If we have the extremes, then I'd rather have no blocks than more than normal amount of blocks. JMO.

Haven't touched a FG or a punt since 07 with the special teams camera. That was loads of fun, though, I might dig out the Xbox and get a hold of the ex to get my controller back (we're on good terms, don't go looking for "shig vs. ex, the war to settle the Xbox controller score").

I personally won't worry about blocks unless it's late in the game .. I'll get around the line and then go for the dive, and usually my luck the kicker has already kicked it and I fly into him getting a Running/Roughing the Kicker ..

i have blocked a couple punts every year. but i have only blocked 1 field goal and it was in madden 03 or something. it was the probowl and i took urlacher straight up the middle and he ran into the ball. other than this way it is impossible.

yet another instance where ratings need to matter...the long snapper, holder, and kicker's ratings should simultaneously work together to produce bad snaps, holds, and late kicks....i mentioned this in the "ice the kicker" thread, although it does not happen much, there should really be a distinction between kicking in normal dry weather vs. raining and snowing weather...if things like this are never taken into consideration, then weather will simply be eye candy. There is a clutch rating i believe, but there is really no applicable situation in the game, b/c the kickers still make field goals almost 100% of the time.
