Re: Progression Explanation?

does anyone at EA actually PLAY the dynasty or do you guys just SIM everything, make sure nothing crashes, then push on to Madden or some other game?

Re: Progression Explanation?

Then I guess it's mostly the rosters. But still, seeing guys jump higher than 6 overall points continually every offseason is unsettling. We do need some expertise in roster making, and have that guy work in conjunction with progression tuning. This whole issue could have been avoided.

And you're sure that these issues don't effect the simmed games in a dynasty mode, as per our discussion yesterday?

Re: Progression Explanation?

I doubt it's the rosters. I had a freshman CB that I red-shirted who was a 69 overall and he jumped 8 points during the season he sat out. I am using dkrause's rosters and he doesn't inflate ratings of freshman.

It's the progression logic itself. Too many player jump too many points.

I think everyone's hidden potential ratings should be bumped down. That might be more of an accessible fix than trying to re tune the progression completely. It seems as though each and every player has all of the potential in the world.

I'm on the NCAA team which is in charge of things like progression, so I was out of the loop on reasons a lot of things didn't get addressed. I'll try to get an answer on this.
I think this is even more important than the progression issue.. any kind of explanation or how we can make it work would be appreciated!!!

Oh, and if I could trouble you with 2 questions:

1. did the patch fix the problem in connection with simulated stats.. the cpu does not run the ball that much and we end up having only QBs and WRs as heisman candidates!

2. Is it me or does the wind have 0 effect this year.. its not as before when the ball trajectory would change depending on the wind speed.. I mean if this dosent work then the whole "windsocks" inclusion in the game was for nothing heh!

Re: Progression Explanation?

Well my gut instinct was confirmed. As a matter of fact I posted on this board that progression was probably "working as intended" from EA's point of view. And I also stated there was no way this was going to be patched. I feel like a fool for buying this game at release. I'm going to return to renting this first next year. Major props to Adam though for replying to this thread. At least we got an honest response.

However, from our tests progression is working as tuned. With the default rosters, there will be too many highly rated players as we tune it for generated players (the default rosters come in long after we tuned progression). This stinks, I know. I think we've all been through the discussions about our default rosters and it doesn't need to be brought up again.

We are seeing around 25 99s and around 500 90+ players across a league of around 8000 players in future years of dynasty on average (results can and will vary... I've had 18 99s in one dynasty for instance). From what I'm told, this is how it was intended to work. You can disagree with the realism of these numbers, and that is fine. But from what we see there is nothing broken here.
Hey thanks for your time for posting and updating us all on what has happened. However I have to outright whole-heartedly disagree with your assessment that " there is nothing broken here" with dynasty progression. If this is how the NCAA team views a correct dynasty progression then I am at a loss for words.

Just my thoughts...
This has nothing to do with it at all, legality or post lawsuit player accuracy adjustments after the fact has 0 relevance in court. It makes no difference what so ever what EA does with this years rosters. The rosters are poorly made as a result of flat out ineptness.
