Can you return a punt for a TD?

I've only done it once but it got called back for clipping.

Re: Can you return a punt for a TD?

I came very close.I returned it to their 10 yard line before being tackled.Sucks though as if I could of beaten the guy that tackled me I would have scored.People complain about it being too tough, well if it was too easy then we would have more complaints. It should be a rare thing to return a kick or punt for a touchdown and it can be done as I've done it before on a kickoff, but just once though.

Mine was pre-patch too, I've returned 2 or 3 kickoffs for touchdowns, still hard but easier if you're able to break a few tackles

It's definitely not easy. Either my guy never breaks the first tackle, or even if he does, there's another 6 defenders all over him in three seconds.

I've gotten some better-than-usual returns when controlling one of the blockers for the duration of the kick (actually engaging the defender, re-engaging him if he breaks the block), then controlling the returner when the game switches for you.

I've never returned a punt for a TD. The opponent's gunners are never blocked so I have started calling a punt block every time so that the CPU doesn't have gunner's breathing down my neck before I catch the punt.

I think its easier this year than ever. It's all about starting one way and then hitting a cutback lane (much like real life). If your returner is speedy enough he can squeeze through the creases and head for the sideline.

Re: Can you return a punt for a TD?

The biggest problem with punt returning is the wall of guys that jump up to try tipping the ball that's... well... at least 20 feet in the air...

They all just get pushed down and the line of guys that were blocking run down free, so even if your team manages to block the gunners (which is relatively rare), you're looking at a wall of more punt-team guys ready to tackle you.
