You've won 5 National titles, 3 in-a-row, and you're worried about your rank?
The point is that after a period of time, if you win enough at ANY school, then the game should gradually change to recognize that school as a powerhouse. On the flip side, if a current or traditional powerhouse falls on hard times and wins 6 games a year for a decade, they should fall off.

It doesnt happen. His point is that with enough effort you should be able to turn a Purdue, WVU or Arizona into a power that the polls recognize and recruits want to go to, but the game doesnt work properly in that regard.

Re: Does EA Sports hate Purdue?

I have noticed a lot of issues with the Top 25 and rankings in NCAA in general. I wish I had a suggestion for you... or even better, for EA. But I am far from a programmer.

Also, lets not forget that we are referring to one of the most subjective and broken ranking systems in any sport - IN REAL LIFE, let alone a video game.

How is the Big Ten performing in your Dynasty as a whole? Is Purdue the only decent team or are there teams constantly in the Top 15-25? That might have something to do with it.

Also, as far as your recruiting goes - the one thing you can't change is the name of your school. Purdue just isn't Notre Dame. Just like Boise State simply isn't USC or any other western US power program.

I know that doesn't help, but try to think of it this way.

If you took Western Kentucky and made them into a 6-Star Program by season 10 and got them into the Big East or something. Do you think they would realistically compete with other teams of the region? (SEC schools in particular) for Big name recruits.

I know it sucks... but as Juliet says 'Whats in a name?'.... In college football.... A LOT.

But after enough time, trends and names can change...SMU is no longer the name it use to be...if he has won 5 championships at Purdue, then the name will be a big name. Hell with Zook, Florida's name's value fell too

Exactly. I've noticed the same thing happening.

Yea, this is just crazy that you are getting passed over so much. I'm also curious as to how they program these rankings. An undefeated WVU team in the ACC is 6th, that is just wrong. The ACC isn't incredibly strong, but still, we're talking at least top 2 or 3 minimum. Only one BCS computer actually releases the calculations (Colley) so I wonder if they even use the real BCS computer rankings? Too bad EA can't put more weight on the computers (if they are accurate) and just put the human polls in there for the sake of tradition. We may not like the computers, but at least it is a program giving us a ranking and not some program meant to reflect human decision. I doubt the computers would put an undefeated team that low unless it was a Boise State, and even then, several computers have had BSU pretty high while undefeated.

Yea, only time I can remember this is 2007 with Hawai'i... but we all know how that one ended with Georgia

Poll logic is definitely flawed, I think National Recognition should be retooled so that it is more dynamic and can effect how voters vote in a poll. Florida should be an A+ in 2010 and now dropped to an A- / B+ after last years season. If a team like Boise beats Oklahoma, their Recognition should have went from like a C- to B-, beating Oregon and Vtech bumps to B/B+, maybe another big win or two and they'll be high enough that they won't be the one sitting outside looking in when there is 3 undefeated teams, unless the other two are both A+ (Bama and OSU, for example).

I think Recognition should be hard to gain, but each step should help boost programs and help even favor them in ratings. If your have low Recognition, say our WKU, no powerhouse team will want to play you at home. You should gain scheduling leverage the higher Recognition you have. Also, at the same time, if your high enough it should make teams not want to play you because makes them unwilling to play you (say your 5 year undefeated Purdue, that's a team most won't want to challenge unless your wanting a jump in your recognition).

Re: Does EA Sports hate Purdue?

I think prestige is hard-wired into the game. I was playing a dynasty as Buffalo, got a Big Ten invite after just two seasons (Indiana got kicked out after finishing 3-9), used the boost in Conference Prestige to land a huge recruiting class and built from there. After eight years I had UB in the top-five year in and year out, yet would constantly get beaten out for recruits by Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida, Penn State and Texas, regardless of what their prestige rating was (I believe PSU had just finished back-to-back losing seasons and dropped to 4-star prestige but still managed to snag about half of the four-star players I was going after in the northeast).

Dynamic prestige definitely needs to be implemented. Either that, or put Army on the level of Notre Dame and make those National Championships worth something.

Re: Does EA Sports hate Purdue?

EA Sports does hate Purdue. That's why the crowd is still an awful gold color instead of black like the student section wears. They also neglected to add the correct band members for the drum that will be in the game this year, instead opting for the easy way out and using the generic cheerleaders.
