Just when I was starting to enjoy Road to Glory I found the game breaking glitch in that mode too.

I was down 17-10 on one last drive to try at tie it up. First down I threw a 5 yard pass, 2nd down they took me out of the game and PUNTED!!!!!!!

My team punted on 2nd down while trying a game tieing drive.

embarrassing, how does EA break things that don't even need to be changed? someone hire a real dev manager (aka me) to make sure these monkeys don't f things up

Yep... seen that one. Although in my case we were down my 4 (so a drive to take the lead instead of tie), little over 1:30 to go in the 2nd quarter with 2 timeouts at our opponents 45 and the coach calls a FIRST DOWN PUNT! Luckily I was a HB and on the punting team so I called a timeout. Next play is a pass, then another 1st down punt. Call TO, pass, incomplete and a 2nd down punt from the opponent's 30 yard line with over a minute left on the clock.

actually not at all, i've been a software dev for 12 years. poorly written code always exhibits nondeterministic behavior. memory leaks, buffer overruns, random generators (like the schedules) - these tend to show very different behavior based on environment

That's true but in a console environment where the hw and os config is all the same things like mem leaks and the like would be more consistent.

I also have been in dev starting back in the early 90's.

guys who have been playing RTG from the start have noted the dumb playcalling for the user team on offense.

Maybe this has been answered, but did anyone point out that in the player ratings edit screen it still says "Scarmbler" or "Balanced" or whatever the player is at the top, but it's only when you look at the top level of the player info does it appear to be changed.

Which one really matters in determining how that player will play on the field?
