Personally, I loved the first time my safety broke up a pass over the middle by lowering his shoulder and crushing the receiver just as he was catching the ball. It's a legitimate way to play pass defense and should stay in the game.
My RTG WR is mad slow 81 speed but I l dominate on the YAC. I turned him into a baby Fitzgerald. Most of my yards come from recognizing wether it's man or zone. it's man I usually run the route at hand best as possible. If it's zone I adjust. It all depends on the corner is doing. If he blitz i hurry up and call for ball while trying to get in best position possible to make catch and run. If he doesn't blitz and the safety offer no help by time i get to him i just make it a deep route or go to which area of the zone has the most room in it.

Just got into my Junior year Overall 91-93 i can't remember.

Anyway the advise i can give you is make sure your player is in good position to make the catch so try to shield defender. Also hold down catch button as that is for possession catches.
