You should see it in parenthesis like (Jr.) next to the hometown and state when a player is selected. Usually it's a Junior but there are also (So.) for sophomores.

Also, sometimes those prospects don't show up in recruiting until I believe weeks 3 or 4 in most cases so keep checking back once in a while to search recruits

Re: Unofficial NCAA 12 Recruiting Thread

After reading threads about recruiting and other people's opinions I have adjusted my recruiting accordingly and it has worked out to the better. I now only recruit a maximum of 20 players to the start and 2+ my needs at the positions I need to start the season. I don't offer scholarships to guys till they are either their bar is green and I am in first or when Im in a close second or third and need a little bump up Ill offer them a scholarship. I usually do this around week 4 and week 7. Right now I have already had 4 guys committed. Once I get to 10, hopefully around week 9 or 10, ill add more guys to the recruiting board and see if I can sneak some 4 or 5* guys in to the mix that other teams aren't recruiting.

Yeah, great stuf guys i'll go on and talk about the "hidden interest" or the "pink diamond" guys.

Towards the middle of the season, there will be one player who will have a hidden interest in your program. to find this player;
-go to recruiting
-go to search all prospects
-hit square(ps3)
-hit trialngle
-now just be gin scrolling down the 4* and 5* guys until u notice one with a big pink diamond next to thier picture
-add him to your board
-offer the scholly immediatly
-recruit as normal

Now, if someone can please explain the sparq rating

This explains the SPARQ rating pretty well:

Re: Unofficial NCAA 12 Recruiting Thread

When I recruit I usually only add 15 - 20 guys to my board at a time. 2 or 3 of which are higher rated guys who aren't interested in my school. I recruit those guys hard (60 min) each week then I divide the time up among the rest. If im 300 - 400 points up with a recruit then I ease back a bit and only use 10-20 min each week on them. I generally offer a scholarship right away to get a leg up in terms of points. This season im trying it a bit differently and not offering until the interest is really high. Ill let you know how that does.

The question I have is.....Does your rating and their interest on a particular subject have an impact as far as when you offer or schedule visits? For example are they more likely to commit with a combo of A+/A+ when you offer rather than a combo of C+/B+? I wast sure if this mattered or not...

Be careful with the pink diamond guys - many times you're just wasting time with them. It puts you in the recruit's top 10 when you add him to your board, but it doesn't scale based on the other schools interest and you don't get "bonus points" the more you spend on him. Think of it as a giant, one time boost in total points big enough to move you way up his list.

I've only ever seen it on four star recruits, and most of them already have interest in other schools and are being actively recruited. Most of the time you get placed around 6th on the list, some times lower. I've never been put higher than 4th, and I've been put in 10th several times. The problem is that, if the guy is only being recruited by one or two schools actively, putting you in the top 10 will still leave you 600+ points behind the teams at the top. Most of the time the recruit isn't in your pipeline state(s), so that's an insurmountable distance and you're just wasting time going after them.

Occasionally you'll get one who isn't being recruited or one who has several teams going hard after him, so when you get put in the top 10, you'll wind up only 200 or so points behind. That's when it's useful, but it doesn't happen like that very often.

Regarding the recruit advisor as a whole, it's just what it advertises - a time saver. You get all the things it provides on a weekly basis without having it, you just have to spend time scrolling through recruits to learn which bonus you get for the week. Having the advisor lets you instantly know what your bonus is for the week, and you can check it before you take any action to plan accordingly.

Even though it's just a time saver, having it can COMPLETELY change your recruiting strategy. For instance, if you're operating without the recruiter and you scroll through your board and don't see any unlocked or x2 guys, then you know you have a diamond somewhere or an instant commit. Scrolling the "all recruits" page doesn't yield the diamond, so you have to make sure to call EVERYONE on your board to ensure that you don't miss the instant commit. With the recruiter, you know right away who your instant commit is, you call him with 10 minutes and lock him up, then move on.

It's incredibly useful, but doesn't give you anything you couldn't normally get through time investment. You're not really "cheating" with it.
