To what extent is this game different enough from Madden to warrant a purchase?

If youre a coach mode player this game is great. The best in the series in my opinion, Iv'e completed 2 dynasties so far in coach mode (3yrs a piece) have had a blast.

First of all, just be warned that there are a lot of people in this forum who refuse to say this game is anything other than a steaming pile of feces. It has its problems, as does every video game ever, but it's still a great game IMO.

1. The gameplay still has some problems (super-jumping linebackers, less-than-stellar AI, the standing corner when you run the option), but if you play coach mode, I'm not sure if any of that would be a problem. I don't know, I've never played coach mode.

2. Sometimes it feels like a chore, but in general I enjoy recruiting. Not very many things in the game are as satisfying as stealing a high-caliber recruit right from underneath someone's nose.

3. I haven't played Madden 12, but last year they were very different games, even in gameplay. All the different types of offenses, the recruiting, and dynasty in general all set NCAA apart.

4. I don't see why not. You'd probably enjoy it more if you knew a lot about college football, but it should still be enjoyable.

5. You can choose to either leave the names "QB #5", randomize the names, or download a named roster (check out the NCAA Rosters forum here on OS).

I have one follow-up question. Knowing while little involved I am with the current NCAA in real life, do you think buying the older version (NCAA 11) for half the price is worth it?

In other words, objectively speaking (meaning exclude the matter of which is current), is NCAA 11 a better game? Especially for only 30$.

A lot of people mention the flaws, but I'm having a blast in my LSU dynasty. Just pick your favorite team and make one, it's the best way to enjoy it
