Playing the 3-4 and 4-3 ,, HELP !!!!

I just did a setup similar to what the NY Giants are using. Basically 4 DE on the front line. I recruited for high Finesse Move and Speed, worked pretty well. Then I control the MLB.

i wrote this up somewhere long ago, but when i run a 3-4 i like em like this

(Key attributes listed from most to least important)
**athleticism refers to speed, acceleration, agility**

D Lineman
DE's: Block shed, strength, power move, finesse move
DT's: Block shed, strength, power move, finesse move

Outside Linebackers
Athleticism! I want them above 85 spd with the highest acceleration i can find. Gotta have as much finesse move as you can, over 75 with one guy above 85. He'll be the guy you bring on most plays, and move to DE in nickel formations.

Good cover skills. Good pursuit and tackling.

Middle Linebackers
Block shedding, pursuit, tackling, finesse/power moves

I want middle linebackers that are almost like undersized defensive tackles that can move their asses.

If you can imagine that. you end up with a 5 man chunk of physical nasty up the middle to play the run and occupy blockers and two overly athletic studs on the outside to bring pressure on pass plays and contain the outside on running downs.

Well, I have been running the 3-4 for 5 yrs. in my New Mexico St. dynasty. I focus most my recruiting on DT's instead of DE's. Usually DT's will be stronger and have better block shed ratings. I currently I have 3 DT's playing the three down line position. No one can run on my team. OLB's I look for SPD and ACC and finesse move rating due to me mostly blitzing at least one of them. MLB's I look for ACC, STR, and Block shed ratings.

I play aggressively blitzing almost every down and backing my db's off receivers depending on the team I'm playing.

Oh yeah playing on heisman, #1 defense 4 out 5 years.

Could someone give me an idea of how many players at each position you typically have in a 3-4 depth chart?

I'm currently running a 4-3 but am thinking about switching it up for a change and have never run a 3-4. In my 4-3, I generally like to have 6DE 6DT 5OLB 3MLB.

How many more linebackers should I bring in this off-season? 6DT just overkill?

I would say drop a DT and add another MLB. You will have 2 on the field in the 3-4.

If you run straight 3-4 drop 2 DTs and add 2 MLBs

can someone explain the different formations out of the 3-4 , I have a hard time trying to figure out which is best against 1 TE sets and 2 TE sets. I try to lineup with a LB over the TE , like out of the 3-4 under , but i cant tell which one is on the LOS. I know this should be really simple , but I have a hard time telling with this game.
