yep, there are already teams in the game that are coded to have mid-length socks by default. would it be that difficult to default every team to that?

Anyone who is at all in touch with the generation of people who are actually playing college football right now would not say that. As a college football player myself, not one player on my team wears ankle socks. No one that we've played against wears ankle socks. And if someone did, there would be people who would notice and point it out. For anyone over here arguing about gameplay. I would not be complaining about sock length if the gameplay in this game was tight. However, it's not, and it will probably never be that good. With any game, there is more that just gameplay. Things such as graphics, player models, commentary, etc. all add to the immersion. When something such as socks, or the percy harvin facemask a few years ago looks completely different from real life football that suspension of disbelief is harder to accomplish. Look at fifa, or NBA 2K they have so many minor details in the game that make the game appear genuine. Also, what bothers me the most, is that this is not something that would take a long time to implement. This is possibly the most minor change in the game that EA would have to make. So what makes you think that a company, which refuses to change something that is wrong in there game, is going to improve gameplay as much it should?

That's a cool personal anecdote and all, but your group of friends in no way represents a statistically relevant sample size, especially when we're talking about roughly 900,000 people who purchased the game last year. Not everyone notices sock length. The fact that EA doesn't set the default sock length to a more realistic height does not indicate that they're incapable of achieving accuracy in other aspects of the game, as evidenced by their laser-scanning of the new North Texas and FAU stadiums. It simply means that "accurate sock height" isn't high on their list of priorities. Clearly, you believe it should be, since it ruins your "suspension of disbelief." But you're already having to suspend a lot of belief considering you're sitting in a chair using a plastic controller to simulate a game in which 200-300-lb. men violently crash against each other.
