Re: Recruiting House Rules

I'm not real big on house rules, but this year I notice that I'm concentrating more on in-state recruits (I'm Arizona, not a crap school, but Arizona isn't exactly known for talent) than in years' past.

What with dynamic pitches this year, if you're a small school (or a traditional big conference doormat) the best pitch at the start is often "proximity to home"; so play to your strengths as it were. As your other pitch grades change, you can expand your focus more nationally, but for me there's something satisfying about getting that hometown kid to stay home. It makes your team feel a little more connected to the state/area you're in.

I find it amusing that the OS icon for NAU is 20 years (and three rebrands!) out of date.

After that, I'll do the first week of recruiting and than sim the rest of them.
If you advance week without recruiting, does the CPU recruit for you?

I'm just starting my last year at San Diego St. (year 2 of 2 in my contract and I'm not going to renew), so I don't want to waste time recruiting when I'm not going to be there next year, but I also want it to be realistic so they get some recruits.

So if I just set up the board and leave it will the CPU do the rest of the work?

No I scout, but most of the recruiting I have done so far is for 1 and 2 star schools, so it's usually beneficial to sign those 4 stars even if they are busts or just rated pretty low. Like right now in an NIU dynasty I'm recruiting a 4* WR who is only a 63 OVR. Obviously I wouldn't mess with him if I was a better program, but he his good enough to see some playing time. This will obviously skew my recruiting class a bit since there are plenty of lower caliber recruits who are better.

Re: Recruiting House Rules

is there actually a "recruiting house rules" section in settings? pardon my ignorance, but I have never seen (or looked for) this.

is this just something you guys do yourselves?

Nope, there's no setting for it, it's just a way a lot of the folks here tend to do things, either to make it more realistic and/or more challenging.
