Stopping Stanford

this is something many of you probably havent experienced, at least with this specific team, and maybe some of you have.
in my offline dynasty, with Oregon, I have the privilege of getting to play Stanford every season. I am in my 6th year, and this is something I just cant wrap my head around.
I have a good slider set and am playing on AA difficulty and 8 min qtrs.
I have no problem playing every other game on my schedule and having a few close games where I make a couple bad decisions (glitches dont help either sometimes) but for the most part can put a good margin of victory on every team I play.

Stanford on the other hand is something else. they play me to the final seconds every time. for some reason or another, this team pounds the rock better than any team I've every seen.
They consistently line up in pro sets with a tight end and maybe a fullback. and just run, run, run. usually a dive or type of inside zone run play.
no matter how many guys are in the box, or blitzed their running backs break tackles like there's no tomorrow.
because of this, they chew the clock until there is almost nothing left. in my most recent game (8 min qtrs) they were able to put up 400+ yards of offense, 11/16 on 3rd down (some of which are 10+ yards), and take up 25:30 of the game. over 3/4 of the entire game, and double what my Oregon offense could do!
they usually play 2 RBs and both are always 75-90 yds rushing with broken tackles in high single/ low teens for broken tackles...EACH.
it seems the only luck I ever get is if I can get a user tackle head on with the ball carrier or get them pushed out of bounds. coming in from any angle, they just push you down and keep going. its ridiculous.

I dont blow everybody out, except for Colorado for some reason(in 6 years Ive outscored them 439-52), most my games are 10-17 pt victories. which is pretty normal IMO, considering I could run it up to 70 pts with Oregon and get a 5 TD victory if I wanted to. but I usually sub in 2nd Team Off/ Def after the first series that I get a double digit lead in the second half to keep it a bit more entertaining.

but Stanford is the exception. in the 6 years of my dynasty, I have lost twice by 1 or 2 pts, and the 4 that I won were by a combined 7 points. and thats keeping my starters in the whole game. I usually have to rely on a couple great punt returns to get close to the redzone to guarantee points or at least 1 KOR/ Def TD to win the game.

Re: Stopping Stanford

When I first read this I thought you were 0-6 against them, now I find out you are 4-2 and are complaining about close games. What exactly is your gripe?

On a side note you might want to play on a harder level if you put backups in every game besides that annual game where you only win by a couple points..

Re: Stopping Stanford

it would appear that I may not have made my intentions of this post very clear, at least judging by the few comments.

Im not asking for help, or ideas on what to do. Im just simply putting it out there that there is one team I consistently struggle with in my Dynasty whether they are ranked #1 or #123.

perhaps I should have asked if there was anybody experiencing anything similar in their dynasty, and who the opponent is.

as for changing the difficulty, I have tinkered with it. but as most of us know, the Heisman setting has its own downsides as well with gameplay. Im comfortable with the sliders I have and its the most realistic gameplay I can come across in the game. my back ups play in almost every game, because Oregon is notorious for playing 40-50 guys in every game, at some point or another. my auto-subs are also set a tad bit higher than normal, so that I can get a position rotation similar to what Oregon has in reality.

Re: Stopping Stanford

Too bad EA doesn't have dynamic rivalries.... This sounds like it has easily become more of a rivalry than any other Oregon rivalries. I think you should treat it as such, and remember that anything can happen in a rivalry game, no matter what ranking the teams are at.

Re: Stopping Stanford

I have a similar time with Boise State who I intentionally play every year (I play with Virginia) in one of my Offline Dynasties. I typically have a winning season and I win most of my games (not all) in this particular dynasty as I am in my 12th season and my UVA team is pretty rock solid (I should move my difficulty up to Heisman to be fair).

But for whatever reason, Boise has a tendency to kick my tail handily most years. Obviously I am not playing a defensive scheme correctly against them or something, but that is the only team/comparison I have for the OP.
