Not sure I understand why that would be weird?

Re: Best gem ever?

I've been playing since NCAA '11 and there were never any 4 star kickers, all of them were 1-2 stars.

Current recruiting class for Mizzou... gems that committed

G - Texas OVR 80 (+13)
T - California OVR 80 (+9)
CB - Alabama OVR 79 (+8)
ATH - Alabama OVR 78 (+7) (90 speed, 90 acc, 90 agl, 87 man, 84 zone, 82 press, 85 thp, 82 tha)
OLB - Indiana OVR 81 (+6)
MLB - Maryland OVR 77 (+6)
OLB - California OVR 78 (+6)

By far the most gems in one recruiting class for me.

Both of the gem OLmen that I recently got were found after several weeks of recruiting 4* and 5* OLmen with no success. The gems are not being recruited heavily, if at all.

I typically recruit 3-4 OLmen each year, so I'm seriously considering only going after 1-2 top guys that I'm in their top 3, then go after the 3* gems later. I could use the recruiting minutes on other players at other positions early on.

PocketScout has a great thread talking about real ratings. He talks about measurables and ratings not matching up, thus predicting possible gems.
Thanks for the info! Since trying this I've found a center and a guard that turned out to be gems. (Though I have to admit, it ALMOST feels like cheating...not enough that I won't do it, but still...lol)

Quick question though...Does this only work for O & D Linemen? Cause I've tried it with a few QBs and RBs, and it never pans out.

You're going to find more gems in all positions in 3-stars then 4 or 5. Recently had a 1 star QB 60 overall get a +15 to a 75 overall. Was awesome since I was using a team builder team and my senior QB was 73.

PocketScout's thread about ratings was extremely helpful in finding more gems.

This section especially.....

SCOUTING:
Scouting will change the players 40-Time and BeNCH but not SQuatT. I think they probably just missed it while writing code and it is not by design. This is useful finding Gem's and Bust's. You know what all skill players Break Tackle or Tackle rating is (depending on if they are OFF or DEF) and you know what every linemans Run Block rating is and what all defensive linemen and linebackers Tackle rating is. If you see their letter grade does not match there squat number you probably have a Gem on your hands.

If you find a large disparity between a running backs BTK and the letter grade its pretty important as each 10 point change will add 3.9 to his OVR, while if you notice the same thing on a WR is is not that big of a deal as it will only change his OVR 0.7 per 10 points.

Re: Best gem ever?

I just found 2 +14's. Never seen one before in my life, but I've got a DE that went from 61 to 75 and a 63 to a 77, DE and HB respectively.
